The COVID-19 Pandemic and Its Effects Worldwide

Covid-19 has remained a threat in many countries in the last two years. Numerous restrictions and precautions have been implemented in various nations, including encouraging people to vaccinate. In Moscow, Russia, the number of people reported having tested positive for the coronavirus has rapidly increased. October 2021 recorded the most significant number of positive reported cases, with 40,096 infections and 1,159 deaths (Krebs). This has resulted in the government imposing strict restrictions, including non-working holidays from Saturday 30 October until 7 November 2021 (Krebs). Many business organizations such as cafeterias, entertainment spots, libraries, outfit stores, fitness clubs, and other large operating companies have also been shut down (Krebs). Due to the risk caused by the pandemic, government operations have been briefly suspended in some sectors, while other business entities such as restaurants and cafes have opted to offer only takeaway services and do door-to-door deliveries. Further, the government urged employers to encourage their employees to take advantage of the non-working days to vaccinate and embrace at least a 30% working from home strategy.

After reading this news, I believe individuals should exercise extreme caution and follow World Health Organization regulations to help avoid additional illnesses. The virus is a highly harmful event that threatens humanity in all aspects of existence. Furthermore, health care systems should take the lead in safeguarding the elderly and those with pre-existing medical illnesses by implementing mandatory reduced-cost health programs for these individuals. This is because they are more predisposed to falling critically ill with the infection, and without proper attention, many of them may succumb to the virus once they get infected.

One crucial implication of this article is educating society about the effects of COVID-!9 and avoiding and preventing more infections. Behavior change is the key to prevention, and this process requires collective responsibility from all individuals. People need to adjust their lives and adopt new ways of living by observing all guidelines as required by the health experts. Thus, relevant authorities should implement containment measures such as close monitoring, early diagnosis, isolating and care coordination, contact tracing, and spread mitigation.
