Thesis
The significance of leadership in influencing the modern world has long been explored in the social sciences. Effective leadership, from commercial leaders to political leaders, is crucial for society’s efficient operation. When dealing with emergencies, effective leadership is necessary to give direction and coordination (Mohanty). But, a world without leadership would be disorganized and without direction. Every aspect of life requires leadership, and a world without it would be devastating.

By Rune Todnem. “Leadership: In Pursuit of Purpose.” Journal of Change Management, vol. 21, no. 1, 2021, pp. 30-44.
Rune By draws a study of leadership theories and the circumstances of leadership absence within the context of social settings. Through the lens of leadership theories, the author attempts to show that states without leaders may cease to exist. As a result, a society without leaders will be disorganized, chaotic, and constrained, serving as a breeding ground for all-pervasive anarchy, which is the main factor in the extinction of civilizations. By offers a valuable source for the work since it gives an overview of what a society without leaders can be through the lens of leadership theories.
Cortellazzo, Laura, Elena Bruni, and Rita Zampieri. “The Role of Leadership in a Digitalized World: A Review.” Frontiers in Psychology, vol. 10, no. 1, 2019, pp. 1938-1950.
This article draws research into the theoretical repercussions of leadership in the digitalized world. Within settings of digitalization, the newly formed economic system will need to be reorganized in a world without leadership since it will no longer be simply driven by the interests of industrialized nations. The authors contend that the consumer goods sector would be severely disrupted if digitalization will be followed by extinction of the concept of leadership. This study is a valuable source for the research since it takes into account the aspects of digitalization within the settings of leadership.
Grint, Keith. “Leadership, Management and Command in the Time of the Coronavirus.” Leadership, vol. 16, no. 3, 2020, pp. 314–319.
Keith Grint researches the case study of the coronavirus pandemic to assess the consequences of the absence of leadership. The author contends that widespread anarchy and erratic events can often occur when there is an absence of leadership. The COVID-19 epidemic has demonstrated that the leaders’ initial unwillingness to step in and provide solutions has resulted in a deterioration of the situation globally. It essentially shows what may occur in a society without leaders, given the absence of leadership, where nearly any virus can cause the collapse of social and health development under these settings. Grint offers a valuable source for the research because it provides a context of a leaderless world within the settings of healthcare, giving an example of COVID-19.
Laureano, Alessandro, and Jiju Antony. “Leadership and Lean Six Sigma: A Systematic Literature Review.” Total Quality Management & Business Excellence, vol. 30, no. 2, 2019, pp. 53-81.
The authors present a literature review discussing the leadership and implications of its absence. The article argues that the geographic and economic power centers would significantly change on a global scale in such a world. Essentially, the entire global economy would be in peril if the leaders of the world powers were to fall. Moreover, it would be impossible to uphold the laws and regulations that maintain the health and stability of the world economy. The authors offer an important source for the research since it provides a systematic approach to the issue of leadership and presents an indicative consequence of its absence.
Goldenhar, Linda M., Natalie Schwatka, and Stefanie K. Johnson. “Leadership Skills for Strengthening Jobsite Safety Climate.” Journal of Safety Research, vol. 70, no. 1, 2019, pp. 263-271.
The article draws a connection between the safety climate and the leadership concept. The authors contend that due to people’s laziness and lack of motivation, anarchy and a lack of consecration will be the first problems the leaderless planet will face. Without leaders, it is almost impossible to uphold safety climate in many settings. This is vital in terms of the concept of leadership, its development, and the social repercussions of it. This source is a valuable contribution since it gives an insight into how important leadership is for the settings of job sites and other work-related fields.
