The modern age could be characterized by the growth of the level of attention given to tolerance and humanism. That is why, it is obvious that in terms of this process, the issue of the health of the nation and its main aspects are considered to be of great importance. There are many various policies aimed at the improvement of the state of health of people and creation of good conditions. However, the problem remains topical as many people could be related to risk groups and who suffer from some diseases. That is why, it is possible to speak about the low-income community as one of the risk groups and create the caries prevention program for it.
First of all, it is possible to say that many various reasons influence the state of health of a person and lead to the appearance of a certain disease. It could be the level of stress (UCLA, 2011), some genetic factors and the environment. The last one has an outstanding impact on the quality of life of people and their health (Environment & Health, n.d). Thus, the ecological perspective also emphasizes the role of the environment, thus it also outlines the fact that other factors interact with each other and create a certain model (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2005). This model serves as the basis for a multilayer approach to epidemiology that could be used to create the caries prevention program for the given community.
In terms of the given approach, it becomes obvious that to improve the state of the oral health of people who belong to this very group, it is vital to introduce some changes to other factors of the environment that are related to the given issue. Thus, it is vital to improving economic policies that regulate the existence of low-income communities. It could result in the positive shifts in the living conditions under which people exist (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2005). This shifts could also result in the improvement of social relations between representatives of this group. Finally, the complex of all these actions and changes could have the positive effect on the state of health of these people.
With this in mind, the following program could be suggested. First of all, the oral health of a person depends on his/her hygiene habits. That is why, the promotion of the healthy living should be introduced. Secondly, it is vital to provide access to dentists for people who belong to this group. Besides, some changes in the policy that regulates the functioning of this groups are needed to improve the state of the environment and created new health facilities.
Nevertheless, it is possible to make a certain conclusion. Resting on the above-mentioned information, one realizes the fact that in terms of a multilevel approach to epidemiology the complex of actions is needed to improve the state of the oral health of people who belong to low-income communities. Only significant improvement of the conditions under which people live could have the positive impact on their health. That is why, to protect them from caries new program should be created. People should be explained the main aspects of healthy living and provided with the constant access to various health facilities. Only under these conditions some positive shifts could be observed.
