The Pollution Problem and Its Negative Effects

Pollution is a significant modern problem that negatively affects not only people’s lives but also threatens the environment. Pollution occurs due to the human factor, namely as a result of various human activities. These include industry, farming, chemicals, and other kinds of performance. In addition, the mining industry, namely the discovery, extraction, and processing of natural resources, also negatively affects the environment. The main objects of pollution are soil, water, and the atmosphere. As a result, pollution can significantly impair or make normal human life on planet Earth impossible, making it an urgent problem.

Pollution comes in many different forms and ways in which it can manifest itself. For example, there is the contamination of the atmosphere, soil or water, light, noise, or radioactive pollution, as well as the accumulation of garbage and plastic (Spellman, 2021). At the same time, impurity is divided by scale into local, regional, and global pollution. Despite the fact that earlier pollution was much less, it almost always accompanied the life of civilization. Ever since the times of Ancient Greece, Rome, and China, when the era of large-scale production and metal processing began, a negative impact on the environment started. In addition, people actively use natural resources such as forests, oil, coal, and others, which significantly reduces their reserves. Deforestation, among other things, exacerbates the situation since forests are considered the lungs of the planet and help clean the atmosphere.

Today, there are many different practices to combat the problem of pollution as the effects of contamination start to manifest themselves. These include many policies, regulations, and laws governing carbon emissions, plastic consumption, and other vital indicators. However, these methods are not enough to effectively solve the problem, so it is necessary to take a set of measures, the parts of which will effectively complement each other. First of all, it is worth noting that one needs to significantly increase the population’s awareness about the problem, which will enhance the motivation to save and improve the eco-friendly trend. It can happen through films, conferences, summits, mail and email distribution, social media, and others. Despite the fact that such procedures already exist today, they are not enough and should be carried out on a much larger scale.

Public awareness of the problem is essential because many people do not understand the full implications of the pollution problem. It includes depletion of resources, famine, increased mortality, and natural disasters such as fires, floods, and tornadoes. It is necessary to demonstrate the horrendous effects of pollution in schools, colleges, and universities to increase young people’s motivation. Moreover, in addition to awareness, it is necessary to increase the punishment for non-compliance with established norms, which should include not only administrative but also a criminal liability in case of significant violations. Finally, it is necessary to create an improved waste recycling system since it is the most profitable way. Thus, instead of wasting resources on proper waste management, one may be able to profit from recycling.

To conclude, pollution is a serious modern problem that can have severe consequences for the population. It can lead to the spread of infection, climate deterioration, and the depletion of natural resources. Today, measures are being taken to deal with this problem, but they are not sufficient. There is a need to significantly raise people’s awareness of the issue, which can be done through conferences, summits, and additional outreach activities in schools and colleges. Moreover, it is necessary to create an improved waste management system for the most profitable solution to the problem.
