The “Real Value” Documentary Directed by Borkowski

The “Real Value” documentary is a film that depicts businesses and the alternative approaches to generating financial gain. The first relevant idea from this movie is that businesses can create value that is beyond the profit they generate. The second idea is that the majority of American businesses are built on the focus on the bottom line, while other aspects of operations are overlooked. This is important, especially in the modern and interconnected world, because companies affect the communities and environments they operate it. Hence, the sole focus on profits mitigates the adverse effects of operations and has to be addressed by leaders of these businesses. The final idea from this movie is that business cannot be studied merely from the viewpoint of management and economics. Instead, it is a complex entity that involves psychology and the relationships between people or communities. This is shown through the interviews with different professionals, such as psychology professor Dan Ariely (Nothing Underground, 2014). Thus, this documentary is an exploration of the different elements of business and how these interact and affect the society in which this enterprise operates.

This documentary changed my perception of the business world because I understood how companies affect the lives of people better. Moreover, prior to this film, I thought that businesses existed to generate profit, and nothing beyond this mattered. However, after watching this documentary, I realized that in the modern world, companies have to focus on more than just a mere generation of profits, and the leaders should ensure that the operations of their enterprise benefit society. Overall, this discussion board post focused on the documentary film “Real Value.”
