Analysis of chapter six

Section one of the definition of process refers to the information relating to a particular group that passes between the members of the group. This may be the content passed around inform of spoken words in the group or any other issue or argument that is of importance to the group members. This communication within the group members may be non-verbal or verbal. Process focus explains the different disciples used to refer to the simple item in group psychotherapy. This may be open nonjudging attention to an idea. It must not necessarily be through words. Focus is made on a single aspect of the group and the group understands it together. The group members are made aware of the integrated concepts of the whole. This focus may be personal, family-related, social, or human-related. They have an integrated structure for working with different experiences within the group and roles played in the group. The nature of each individual in the group can be seen easily and the therapist can develop the behaviors of the individuals as they interact within the group. The way the individuals relate amongst themselves and the therapist can be understood since the process and the subjects are analyzed. The process can be noted and categorized into individual or complex depending on the group.

The power source of the group is evident when a person discloses himself in form of his actions and behaviors. These are guided by the rules which give pressure on individuals going against these set rules. In cases where a member of a group terminates his or her membership, the group is not disrupted. The therapist task in the here-and-now focuses on two major ties. Neither of these has power over the other. It gives the therapist and the group members to discuss risks happening at the moment. Issues are dealt with as they happen and the focus is based on emerging issues.

In the techniques of here and now, the therapist is forced to think about the emergent issues and approach them in the group as they occur. The different techniques are related to the group’s major role. Focus made on the outside issues is turned into the inside. Abstract issues are made specific and general principles made personal. From personal, they are now turned into interpersonal.

Process illumination is centered on the therapist’s tasks in the group. The therapist is required to study in detail the process and understand it so that he or she can use it well with the patients or group. He must understand the different happenings in the group and be able to explain them. In this way, the therapist will fully understand the Recognition process.

The recognition process encompasses the different dynamics of the group, their social aspects, communication behaviors, and their behaviors in the group as they interact. This assists a particular group to realize its dreams. A good understanding of the groups such as their tasks, their problem-solving skills, and their decision making can be learned as they relate in the group.

Helping patients assume a Process Orientation is aimed at making sure that different patients in the group get a good knowledge of the issues to be discussed in the group. This is done so that the patients are aware of different issues in the group. This orientation helps by making the members of the group participate and achieve a good understanding of the group processes. In helping Patients Accept Process-Illuminating Comments, the patients are directed on the different processes so that they can realize their importance.

Conclusion

In the process commentary, the behaviors of different members are known. The effect of your behaviors on others is seen. The progression of the behavior is known whether they are gained or taught from past experiences and lessons. The Use of Past; and Mass Group Process Commentary helps to study the past behavior of individuals so that the therapist can predict their behaviors in the group. This is done as the group processes give the members real behaviors.
