Leadership is the ability to absorb knowledge and apply it in current work in such a way as to motivate others not to turn the work process into a routine, but to seek and find those methods and means of execution that lead to the best result of the whole process. Healthcare must keep pace with the rapidly evolving world, trying to change it for the better. The development of leadership in nursing will help this, increasing the nurse’s responsibility and the significance of their role in organizing medical care.
Nursing training is based on the fundamental principle of patient-centered care. Research shows that implementing transformational leadership can lead to improved quality of health services (Seljemo et al., 2020). A wide range of knowledge is required from a nurse to work in a hospital since she is the most responsible person for treating a patient. She must know the essence of all procedures and operations that can occur in a clinic, how to interpret laboratory tests, and much more. As assumed by transformational leadership, continuous pursuit of skill improvement will help avoid treatment errors or misuse of services. Modernity places high demands on nurses – it is imperative that these staff actively participate in the ongoing reform of the health care system and maximize their skills.
To cut costs, finding new development opportunities and delivering high-quality health care to people is needed. Therefore, healthcare organizations will require better data management, communication, and more accurate outcomes measurement. The introduction of transformational leadership in nursing will help to achieve the goals of reducing patient care costs. This method aims to provide a higher quality of service; consequently, the time spent by patients in the clinic and the time for determining their diagnosis will be reduced. Patients will not have to spend money on ineffective drugs and pay significant funds to employees whose knowledge is insufficient for quality treatment.
