Vacations and Relaxation Types

Vacations is a free time that every person needs to rally one’s strength and return to work. People see the best vacation in different ways, as they all have different interests and prefer to have a rest in different ways. Some would like to stay at home while others search for adventures.

Today many people prefer spending time within the urban territory that is why they travel around the world visiting various cities. When one wants to go to Europe, the first place people choose is usually London. It attracts millions of tourists by its red double-decker buses and the ceremony of changing the guard at Buckingham Palace (Conlin 26). Others are willing to see the US and go to New York or Las Vegas, as they are widely discussed by the general public. In such places, people usually go around the city, try the most popular cuisine, and visit museums. They are enjoying the opportunity to see how ordinary life looks like in other places. As a rule, during such vacations, people travel by plane, as it is the quickest way to reach the destination. Still, when one is going on the excursion with a guide, they take a bus that transfers people till they reach the home city.

Many people feel tired of constant noise and traffic, so they give preference to nature. They live for several days or even weeks near the reavers and mountains, marvel at waterfalls, and take a tan. Such type of relaxation can be cheap if you make a trek to the country and extremely expensive if you are flying to the Maldives, for example. Needless to say that these similar from first sight things are extremely different. Living in the hotel and receiving all modern conveniences people do not feel the breath of nature even though they are close to it. The night in the tent, the breakfast made on the open fire, swimming in the river, or climbing the mountain when there is almost no one around is the true image of active leisure and accord with nature (Wooldridge and Bleiberg 91).

It should also be mentioned that vacations can be seen not only as holidays for individuals but also for the whole family. Escorted tours, for example, are great for those who have children, as tour operators take all responsibilities. They arrange activities and transportation so that parents can have a rest and do not need to worry. Family resorts even have a range of services that include education and entertainment programs (“Grand World Travel” par. 3).

One more type of vacations is a volunteer vacation. It may sound strange to some people as individuals are expected to manage particular duties during them; still, I believe that it is the best way to have a rest from the daily routine and be helpful at the same time. Volunteering can be a fun adventure for many people searching for. During it people are involved in various expeditions, they help professionals to deliver health care in the most distant places or help to build homes for people who have none. Numbers of volunteer organizations encourage people to take such vacations and join them to improve the conditions of life for others (McMillon, Cutchins and Geissinger 14).

Thus, it can be seen that the opportunities for vacations are not limited. People can choose the most appropriate type of vacation depending on the things they want to experience. Moreover, low income does not prevent individuals from having fun, as there is a wide range of choice and everyone can find something affordable.
