The ability to creatively express oneself is rightfully deemed as one of the defining characteristics of humans. Interpreting the objective reality through the lens of a specific culture, value system, and imagination, people have managed to create artworks that serve both aesthetic purposes and the ones of emotional relief for the author (Belfiore, 2020). For contemporary culture, which has been enriched significantly with new tools for creative expressivity, including opportunities for digital art, the value of human creative expression has gained tremendous significance not only due to its cultural significance but also because of its therapeutic effect and the opportunity to communicate crucial ideas globally.
The increase in connectivity and the influence of social media appear to be the key aspects of contemporary culture that have shaped the humanities and creative expression particularly strongly. Specifically, a surge in the content linked to the discussion of popular media indicates that the significance of social networks as the method of interpreting cultural phenomena and building creative art pieces based on the results of these interpretations has increased (Belfiore, 2020). Moreover, digital platforms for interaction have affected how creative expression occurs.
I see collaboration, as well as knowledge and experience sharing, especially in a cross-cultural context, as the main value of human creative expression for contemporary culture (Belfiore, 2020). Once a cross-cultural dialogue is introduced into the creation of an art piece, it gains a new meaning for contemporary culture, allowing for a new perspective on a specific issue, possibly, and helping to resolve a conflict or discover something about oneself (Belfiore, 2020). Consequently, the significance of human creative expression has been amplified in modern culture. With the introduction of innovative IT and ICT tools, the value of human creative expression for contemporary culture has risen stupendously, inviting opportunities for therapy, emotional expression, and global experience sharing.
