The performed research aimed to offer suggestions on how to decrease discrimination in the workplaces in Austria and Taiwan. The theoretical and empirical qualitative studies were combined to recommend the most effective strategy. The researchers gathered data through qualitative interviews with business leaders and employees of all levels face-to-face, via emails, and via Skype. Analysis of the answers led to recommending education, diligent selection of employees, discussion, as well as psychological support from the management and the co-workers as effective instruments against various kinds of discrimination. There was no immediate result of improving the atmosphere regarding unwanted practices in this study as they were only defined at the observed stage (Bobek et al., 2018). Thus, interviewing the participants again to evaluate the proposed strategies is necessary.
The approach of consulting the workers holding different positions at the same business regarding discrimination seems to be an effective way to find what is needed for this particular company. The original case study involved employees of Austrian and Taiwanese firms. However, applying the same method to any other business could reveal the differences in discrimination issues in various countries. Other case studies may include US, Canadian, African, Australian, and Latin American firms. In addition to the research itself, evaluating the level of discrimination in the companies before and after applying the recommendation would provide feedback about the effectiveness of the proposed solutions.
Furthermore, instead of business firms, the research could be performed at educational or medical institutions. Discrimination is possible in any place with two or more workers, so individual surveys regarding the possible ways to make the atmosphere supportive of all the races and nations could reveal effective strategies for the best outcomes. In the end, it would be possible to combine the results of separate researches into one article comparing the situation regarding reducing discrimination in different countries and work spheres.
