A Dog Sitting Start-Up’s Budget Considerations

The agency’s mission and history

My mission is to provide a service that will be useful to all members of the community. It will be beneficial for both pensioners and housewives or households where both family members work. My work and social activities will contribute to the satisfaction of social and community needs and full-fledged individual development. It will also differ in relative constancy, regularity, and periodicity, interfacing with social and personal activity. The work carried out by me during the mission will require a responsible and proactive attitude toward the creation of a variety of public services.

The description of the new business

My new business is dog sitting, which is dog walking two or three times a day according to the usual schedule for the animal. Additionally, I will provide dog training services and shoot videos or photos for the pet’s social account during a walk. The walking route will be made up individually. For example, it is possible to take dogs to special dog playgrounds. For an additional fee, I will help dress and shoe the dog for a walk and wash its paws after a walk. In addition, I will be able to accompany the dogs to various events, such as haircuts, and bring them back home.

The reasons for beginning the business

My reasons for starting this business are a combination of benefits for the community and me. Regular physical activity while walking dogs will help me to be more effective during my studies and will act as a prevention of various diseases. Most importantly, this business will be in great demand and will make life easier for the residents of the community. Many of them have dogs, but often friends and neighbors complain that it takes a lot of time to walk. Thus, my dog-sitting service will free up time for them to spend with their family or complete urgent work tasks.

The stage of the development of the business

At the moment, I am developing an advertising company for my business. I have already registered in the application for dog sitters and passed the verification. I am currently working in the Canva application on a design of leaflets that I plan to distribute to people, throw into mailboxes, and attach as ads on special boards. Bright flyers with my number, which inform and attract attention to the offer, will help me start my business.

The unique aspects of the business

The unique aspects of my business are the provision of additional services. Usually, dog sitters just walk the dogs or look after them when the owner is out of town. I will provide services that other dog sitters do not perform. These help with dressing dogs for a walk, which saves the owner’s time, or help with washing paws, which is especially important for rainy autumn. In addition, if the dog has a social media account, I will shoot videos with trending music on my phone. Moreover, I not only walk the dog like other dog sitters, but I can also accompany them to various procedures, such as a haircut, and then take them home.

Community need, customer identification, mission and vision, community asset

I decided on this business, focusing on community needs. In my neighborhood, almost every household has a dog, and many friends and neighbors complain that walking with a dog sometimes makes them uncomfortable. For example, if the owner is sick, it is raining, or a large number of household or work chores have built up, it is hard for them to walk the dogs. Therefore, by starting to engage in dog sitting, I will thereby satisfy the needs of community members for rest or free time.

Money for the start-up of your business

For the startup of my business, I will need about $60; I am going to spend all these funds on advertising. My target audience is busy working mothers and pensioners; at the same time, the first category has the opportunity to pay more for services. Working moms use social networks, so I will spend $45 dollars on targeted advertising on Instagram. I plan to spend another $15 on printing ads and bright flyers in order to distribute them to people and drop them into mailboxes.

Required financing for the company

My company will need ongoing financing related to costs aimed at encouraging new and retaining old customers. These will be done with the help of birthday gifts for pets, such as toys for dogs. I am also planning to enter a Free treatment system after every 15 walks. Moreover, regular expenses will be the purchase of educational games for dogs and incentive food for correctly performed commands. In addition, I plan to develop in this direction, so a certain part of the funds will go to training courses on dog care.

Most likely, I will not need a line of credit, but additional financing may be required. Since I will receive profit immediately, I can include fixed costs in the cost of services. In addition to direct earnings, I can also receive funds through cooperation. I will arrange with a grooming salon and a pet store to receive a percentage of each client I bring. Thus, using advertising and cooperation, I will be able to avoid the need for a line of credit.
