Wood, Geoffrey, et al. “Special Issue on: International Human Resource Management in Contexts of High Uncertainties.” International Journal of Human Resource Management (IJHRM), vol. 29, no. 7, 2018, pp. 1365–1373. Journal Article.

The article examines issues in human resource management in difficult conditions. There is no doubt that high uncertainties may create a number of different problems that need thorough research and discussion. That is what the aim of this special issue is. The scholars explore various tough circumstances, including “financial crisis, economic sanctions, political and civil uncertainty, environmental collapse, and/or deep recession” (Wood et al. 1365). Such conditions significantly differ from dangerous events that could also create problems in management, for example, crime and terrorism. Nevertheless, despite the initial peaceful forms of these uncertainties, they could also lead to serious damage to any business.

In addition, aside from discussing such challenges, researchers also address issues that could be found within that topic. For instance, they speak about the role of HR in the context of crisis and what responses will be effective in the time of difficulties. By providing examples of how a business can face and overcome challenges, this article can help in conducting research about finding a proper solution to any critical issue.

Sims, Ronald R., and William I. Sauser Jr, editors. Legal and Regulatory Issues in Human Resources Management. Information Age Publishing, 2014. Print.

This book by Ronald and Sauser provides information on different types of management problems in relation to HR. The relevance of this topic cannot be overestimated since currently many organizations face various challenges, including “the diverse workforce, technology, legislation and regulation that affect the workplace and technology matters” (Sims and Sauser 1). First of all, the authors discuss key responsibilities of human management and its history. Then, they examine how to solve them while being compliant with laws and regulations. In addition, during the discussion, the researchers take into account the necessity of being respectful and dignified.

They manage to cover a variety of different problems, from legal obstacles to immigration, technology, and the use of technology. At the end of the study, the authors provide practical advice on how to face a federal lawsuit or how to make an organizational change. Since the book touches upon such a diverse topic, it would be helpful to those who want to improve their management skills and find solutions to any arising problem.

Fernie, John, and Leigh Sparks, editors. Logistics and Retail Management: Emerging Issues and New Challenges in the Retail Supply Chain. 5th ed., Kogan Page Publishers, 2018. Print.

The book by Fernie and Leigh discusses the complexity of management in the field of supply chain and logistics. First of all, the authors explain why this management sector is also difficult and what types of issues may emerge there. They discuss these problems in the context of different industries and how technology can be implemented in order to solve them. In addition, the book also touches upon environmental concerns that should also be taken into account while solving management issues. The researchers, however, accept the fact that they could not cover all possible problems due to how wide this topic is. For instance, they decided not to include issues in logistics that could arise in the future. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that they conducted thorough research, and this book can serve as a guide for managers.
