Current Organizational (Model) Design and Features
Started in 2003 as Tesla Motors, Inc., but became profitable in 2013, Tesla’s organizational model supports continuous growth development, corporate sustainability and profitability over the seasons under the u-form structure. With the function-based strategy, the company has several offices and units that manage both local and international operations to meet the demands of the consumers universally. The function-based hierarchy outlines the leadership structure and team composition for proper production during operations. Likewise, centralizing the managerial structure has helped the company to design policies through the global central headquarters and teams (Meyer, 2018). The other element of the structure includes division which defines the geographical or the automobile demands types in different locations. This helps the organization to identify the appropriate consumers for particular type of products for ease of productivity and sustainable management.
Important Inter and Intra Organizational Linkages
The company uses centralized management approach to create a structural framework that helps in enhancing competitive advantage against other companies like Toyota, Nissan Volkswagen, Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) among other car manufacturers (Meyer, 2018). There is a great interlink between their products including solar panels, batteries and automobiles because they focus on energy for sustainable development. Essentially, the operations management are greatly linked to business structure because the team focus on distinctively unique products in the market.
