Studying the different aspects and approaches to Big Data technologies has become very useful for a more profound understanding of the IT industry as a whole. Researchers state that “there is enormous value potential in Big Data” (Long, 2015, p. 16). Now data analysis is becoming increasingly important in various fields, such as artificial intelligence or the collection of broad statistics. Due to the high speed of technology development, it is sometimes difficult to monitor them. However, their study is a crucial point for the most efficient work with information. It allows people to correct errors, make forecasts, systematize information, and plan further activities.
Among all the concepts related to Big Data, I would like to note their heterogeneity, high rate of emergence, and their application. At this moment, various companies get more opportunities to use Big Data every day. For instance, Holmes (2017) notes that “if we look at healthcare we find an area which involves a large and growing percentage of the world population and which is increasingly computerized” (p. 9). Thus, any company should consider the types of data that they need to use and choose an appropriate Big Data processing system. Thus, the popularity of Big Data technologies and the correct approach to them gives people vast opportunities for further development.
There are other key concepts in working with Big Data that were discussed during the course and seem interesting and useful to me. For instance, the evaluation and selection of data distribution methods, correct research of data distribution areas, and work with the obtained data are also essential. Indeed, the method of data distribution must be selected for each desired goal. In addition, the analysis of the data obtained is also necessary. The use of rational approaches in each of these areas will allow any company to optimize the process of working with data.
It is also worth mentioning the concept of mobile computing discussed during the course. Indeed, now mobile technologies are developing at a tremendous speed, and people can perform most daily activities using their phones. The processing and use of Big Data need to be tailored to these processes. In particular, mobile computing allows companies to stay connected with users. Another key concept is risk assessment, which is crucial in working with Big Data, as in any other job. In order to perform the work as efficiently as possible, people need to understand exactly what problems may arise and eliminate this possibility.
