Descartes’ Evidences of God’s Existence

Descartes puts forward several axiomatic philosophical proofs of the existence of God to explain the objective surrounding reality. In his opinion, the mechanistic processes taking place in the world around us cannot be explained without a cause-and-effect logic. It is precisely in the search for an explanation of the pattern that Descartes’ religious and philosophical research lies.

Descartes owns a philosophical theory of innate knowledge and ideas communicated to a person and located in the surrounding nature. This is seen as a deeply religious understanding of science, since in Descartes’ plans knowledge turns out to be something high and sacred, akin to the divine. Thus, through the proof of the existence of God, Descartes also asserts his right to venerate him, his right to engage in science selflessly, like carrying out a monastic service.

The essence of God for Descartes fits into the concept of ideal existence. In other words, he experiences faith in the need to invent an explanation for what he sees around him, looking for an essence in existence. The sequence of Descartes’ thought is simple and consists in the ascent to the root cause, where the essence is at the head of existence.

Descartes’ proofs seem to be some of the more convincing logical constructs of Western philosophy that underlie it. It seems impressive how much the simplest logic is enough for a solid foundation of faith. Physics, mechanics and science have for him consistency, that is, harmony, which can be inherent only in something containing a divine essence. It is in connection with the balance and impeccable logic of the natural world that its religious beliefs take on even more weight.
