Discussion of Quality Assurance Standards

Client Interactions

Any Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) is likely to focus on total customer satisfaction. Some of the standards of this QAP related to client interaction are determined by its sponsors; the rest are self-set. It is planned to conduct anonymous and non-anonymous surveys among the patients or their relatives in the event of a patients’ severe mental condition to assess client satisfaction at the end of each month. For emergency or urgent situations, this plan suggests the functioning of the Emergency Team, a group of qualified doctors, including psychologists and therapists, paramedics, and nurses. If working with minors, who have suffered from urgent situations, it is necessary to provide them with medical help and inform their parents or relatives about what happened. Before obtaining informed consent, the doctor should explain to the client all details of this consent, ensure that patient understands everything, and supply him with all information about his health condition and planned healing procedures. Thus, the plan’s primary goal is to make sure every client is happy with the service and feels better.

This plan also suggests collaboration of the clinic with other medical facilities and police to assure customers that they will get high-qualified help. Several people have a big problem, which causes mental disorders. Sometimes, it is necessary to solve this problem to heal the psyche. For this, it is supposed that the clinic can call the police, for instance, in case of domestic violence; it also has connections with an organization fighting addiction. All employees should be highly polite, “kind and compassionate” to the customers and try to find the solutions for all troubles arising in the clinic (The Holy Bible, 2020, Eph. 4:32). The specialists should provide patients with quality help, constant support, and “the focus on the whole person” (Harrar, 2019, para. 24). There are also rules which prohibit staff from pressing down on a person. Therefore, the standards related to client interactions involve a wide range of actions.

Data

Since this plan is closely connected with collecting clients’ personal data, patients should be sure that these data cannot be used without their agreement. This kind of QA Standards comes from the plan’s funders. The privacy policy is one of the significant pillars of this QAP. Only specialist in charge of the case has access to hard copy and electronic files with these data to ensure their security. The employee who enters the data into the system also signs a non-disclosure agreement and knows that in case of violation, a claim will be filed against him in court. He is a professional in this sphere, who checks several times all data he entries. Since it would be wrong to let someone else look through these data, but it is necessary to ensure there are no mistakes, a doctor in charge of the case should also check the information. The data can be reported to other facilities only in case of patients’ agreement or emergency. The plan suggests gathering information about a person’s health condition once in two weeks. Therefore, patients’ data are protected and cannot be utilized without clients’ knowing.

Clinical Services

QA Standards related to clinical services are self-set and consider the characteristics of the drugs used. All medications should be stored in a separate room with a temperature not exceeding 15 degrees and curtained windows. Only three people with corresponding education and experience in charge of medicines will access this room to maintain universal precautions. They will ensure that the drugs do not expire and are stored in suitable conditions. Confirmatory tests, used to confirm the health condition, will be utilized not so often since most mental disorders are detected not due to analysis. The plan suggests the collaboration with the company specializing in the disposal of medical waste and arranging a room where they are stored before coming out. Thus, QA standards provide the functioning of clinical services without failures.
