Education and Its Value in Student Life

Education gives pupils certain skills and helps to manage their lives properly. This term received a broader concept in the last few years. It is about increasing brain activity or being developed in all educational aspects and internal improvements, such as emotional stability, motivation, and fairness. Education is a huge concept that has its theories and purposes that are important for everyone.

According to Tirri Kirsi and her colleagues in Journal of Education for Teaching, “the purpose of education is becoming an education for purpose”. Education worldwide helps students find a sense of their lives and set achievable goals as being educated does not always mean being smart in specific subjects. It is also the ability to communicate with peers and know how to get the job done in a short period of time. Purposes are developed through the main theories of educations described in the Introduction of Sociology textbook, such as Functionalism, Conflict Theory, and Symbolic Interactionism. Functionalism consists of Manifest and Latent Functions which are usually undertaken by experienced teachers and correctly explained to children to avoid group conflicts. Education is losing its purpose when teachers are not professionals, and this problem usually causes Conflict theory. Teachers must always regulate child abuse otherwise, there will be gender, race, or nationality segregation. Moreover, in some schools, teachers may act like abusers and label students by low test results or bad academic performance in general. It is becoming impossible for some students to get rid of these labels, and Symbolic Interactionism arises at this stage.

Every person defines the importance of education in their own way, and teachers’ experiences are playing a huge role in it. On the one hand, some teachers have enough experience to instill a desire to create plans for the future and evaluate the importance of actions done in the present. On the other hand, rash actions of inexperienced teachers can lead to students’ breakdowns and loss of desire to build their future.
