Enhancing Patient-Centered Care at Regional Health

Regional Health is a major health care provider in Williston, North Dakota. The leadership of Regional Health concerns themselves with the opinion of Williston’s citizens on the quality of the care provided by the institution. After conducting a survey to understand citizens’ outlook on the Regional Health’s medical management, the establishment’s authorities discovered that consumers would prefer a patient-centered organization. Thus, Regional Health set out to create a plan to help meet the current clients’ demands.

The survey’s results revealed the key areas of needed change – the institution’s schedule, the lack of professional practitioners, the unavailability of enough bed spaces, and substandard mental health care. According to the survey, Regional Health’s working hours are inconvenient for the employed patients. In addition, Regional Health’s number of medical professionals and bed spaces is insufficient compared to Williston’s population. Another issue of the institution is that Regional Health provides low-quality mental health care. The organization must revise its approach to such treatments as the demand for high-standard mental health care rises because of the increasing number of consumers with mental disorders, (Kilbourne et al., 2018). As the majority of the institution’s clients are between the ages of 50 and 75, Regional Health must also concern themselves with providing quality mental support for older people who do not have or lost their families. Therefore, Regional Health needs to reassess its approach to providing medical care to satisfy the consumers and become a patient-centered organization.

A strategic plan consisting of the working hours’ revision, a tactic concerning the increase of the staff, the expansion of the institution, and mental health care quality improvement will help with the reassessment. The schedule adaptation will be conducted by creating morning and night shifts so patients can access the needed care at any time. The staff enlargement will require the improvement of Regional Health’s working conditions. Teoh et al. (2019) state that better terms of employment increase the possibility of high-quality patient treatment. Thus, Regional Health will focus on advancing these terms while also popularizing the jobs in the medical field among teens. Regional Health will also concentrate on gathering the resources for the physical expansion of the organization to create more space and accommodate more patients. To improve the mental health care, the institution will reevaluate its approach to it and prioritize this aspect of medical care as well as create support programs for the elderly people. These methods will help Regional Health not only to meet the consumers’ needs, but to create a better environment for the employees.

The achievement of different goals of the strategic plan will require improving the working conditions for the staff and creating orientation programs for youth. Due to the change in the institution’s working schedule, the staff will be allowed to choose their working hours. To improve the employment conditions and attract new workers, Regional Health will negotiate pay raises and a reward system according to employees’ achievements. The popularization of the medical professions among young people will include orientation programs. Such programs will help teens develop a positive outlook on the profession (Zuyeva & Nyssanov, 2022). Hence, there is a better chance that they will continue pursuing the career in the medical sphere.

To reach other strategic plan’s aims Regional Health has to explore additional sources of financial income as well as elevate the qualification level of its mental health care professionals. To accumulate the funds for the physical expansion, Regional Health will conduct charitable events as well as participate in grants. The improvement of mental health care requires engaging in certification trainings for the employed professionals and recruiting new staff for the mental care department. The support program for elders will consist of group meetings to allow people to form stronger bonds and individual check-ups to monitor the overall state of the consumers’ mental health. All of these changes will be conducted over the period of one year.
