What constitutes a stable society?
Everyone in society looks forward to the surrounding environment for satisfaction. Foods and other basic needs are all obtained from the environment. Most of the things that are relied upon by humankind to complement their lives are all found from the surroundings. In addition, it is evident that any society that provides an optimum environment for its people is stable. When a system offers a satisfying setting, the people within the society would work hard to conserve.
What comes first is the provision of a complete surrounding, and then the man gets in to conserve, what satisfies him. A stable society can be defined as one that has people, who perform their responsibilities to their families and to other people in society (Friis, 2010). A society can regulate itself, and still can be regulated from outside. The most fundamental way for a society to be stable is by having a basic social structure that could act as a guide.
Likely types of conflicts because of poor environment
The problem occurs when the environment is only providing limited resources to the people in the society. If people are not getting satisfied with what they are receiving from their surroundings, there is a high likelihood of conflict among the people. For instance, if the place is overpopulated, it shows a scarcity of land. Such places are likely to have conflicts, as people try to fight for the small land that is available (Friis, 2010). Severally, people are seen fighting and even killing one another due to the scarcity of land. Everyone wishes to own his or her piece, but what nature has provided cannot afford to satisfy everyone.
Another example that has been witnessed in many areas is the fight for water. Water is a basic need for everyone, as no one can do without it. The purposes of water are so many in both rural and urban areas. In rural areas of agricultural countries, people rely on water for farming, cleaning, cooking, and drinking. This implies that water is a crucial component of peoples’ lives. In urban areas globally, water is another essential thing, starting from industries, household purposes, electrification, etc., all rely on water.
Imagining an environment with a scarcity of water would be the worst thing. The healthy of people mostly depend on cleanliness that is obtained from safe water (Moeller, 2005). A society without enough water would be extremely unstable. People would find all ways to secure some water for their use.
The importance of a quality environment
The satisfaction and stability of people in society would depend considerably on what the environment is offering. A satisfying environment has a high likelihood of reducing the incidences of conflict and instability in society. A quality environment would reduce the chances of criminals and crimes that may distract people within society. A good environment with enough resources would assist in promoting the health of people, making them more comfortable and satisfied (Listorti, 2007). People would also remain stable, if they are living in a society with plenty of healthy food, to sustain them. An environment that is creating work opportunities for its people would always result in a more stable society that is self-dependent.
In conclusion, if an environment does not afford to offer such services to its people, there would be a high likelihood of having an unstable society (Moeller, 2005). When people do not get what they deserve in society, they tend to hate one another. People start placing blames on one another in the process of looking for solutions. The happiness and comfort of people in society are born in a quality environment.
