Ethical Awareness. Detailed Analysis of the Ethics

In the report by Blessing (2010), there is a detailed analysis of the ethics that should be possessed by the employees at the work place. The article outlines the different means and mechanisms by which the ethics can be imparted into the employees to ensure a peaceful and harmonious co-existence at the work place. The article confirms my opinion that indeed the availability of ethics among the people is very crucial in ensuring that organizations experience success in all their endeavors. The crucial information from the article that would be valuable in the speech is about the engagement practices that would be used to ensure that basic professional ethics are upheld at the work place. Training of the employees and staff at the work place is also a useful piece of information that should be included in the speech. The article will support the points that illustrate the importance of the employees having the ethics and understanding the contexts in which those particular ethics can be applied.

In Butts (2009) book there exists an overview of how ethical awareness differs according to the organization or the work place. There is a listing of examples of ethical awareness skills that are expected by the people in different fields. The book contains both profession-specific ethics and the general ethics that a person is expected to possess in order to always interact peacefully with others. The book confirms my opinion that apart from the much talked of ethical awareness at the work place or in organizations, it is necessary for every person to have the basic ethics in order to relate well with others in the society. The important information from the book is that: Ethics represent the behaviors possessed by a person and by which one is expected to carry him/herself in a way he or she attracts respect to him/herself. In addition ethical awareness among employees in any organization is necessary to ensure that the organization runs or operates in a harmony so as to achieve the objectives. The quotes from the book about ethical awareness are, ‘Without proper ethics, an organization is bound to fail’ and ‘Success of an organization depends on the level of cooperation among the employees.’ The information from this book emphasizes the need to have ethics among all the employees.

French (2008) outlines the various profession-specific ethical awareness skills in the field of medical services. It also gives the required pre-training in the medical field in which the medical practitioners undergo the various training processes to enrich themselves with skills to successfully carry out their duties. This article confirms my opinion that some professions demand ethical awareness training to be carried out before participants qualify to be considered competent. The important information for the speech from the article is the potential risk that exists if the employees in a given professional field do not uphold certain ethical values. There is an important quote from the article that, ‘professionalism is always accompanied with sound ethical awareness.’ It supports the information that the professional discipline required in any given field is simply the necessity of the professionals in the field to always uphold the ethics as demanded of them while carrying out their duties.

In the article by Konrad (2006) measures have been outlined for a successful process of engaging the employees in the acquisition of the skills at the work place. It goes further to explain how different work places demand different ethical awareness. It confirms my opinion that ethics vary according to the context in which they can be applied and it is, therefore, necessary for an individual to clearly understand the environment in which they are operating. What might be deemed fit or right in one environment may not be right in another. The article will support the idea that is necessary for a clear understanding of one’s environment before he or she can appreciate what is expected of him in matters of ethical awareness and work place interactions.

In Luca (2008) article there is also an overview of the employees’ behavior at the work place. The article also discusses the importance of ethical awareness training being given to the employees. It clarifies that teaching of ethics to a person before the exact time when he or she will be required to apply them is considered to be one of the best ways of enhancing ethical awareness. This avoids the unnecessary disappointments at the time when people expect one to uphold ethics to the highest standard. The article confirms that the best way to enhance ethics at the work place is by ensuring that every employee respects each other’s achievements. The important quote from the article is, ‘self respect at the work place constitutes the basic ethics.’ The article supports the information that there has to be respect among the employees or people in general in a given organization as the foundation upon which other components of ethics will be built.
