Abstract
Throughout the second half of the 20th century, American society made a lot of efforts to equalize blacks in rights with whites. Attempts to move away from the long-standing segregation policy turned out to be very difficult and resource-intensive for the White House. It is one thing to legislate to abolish racially discriminatory acts and quite another to eradicate them in the minds of citizens. The topic “Racism and racial discrimination in the USA” mean studying manifestations of institutional racism, which continues to flourish in American society despite its legal prerequisites for eradication. “Institutional racism” means that we see the main sources and areas of racism and discrimination against African Americans in economic and public social institutions.
In the last few years, conflicts based on ethnic hatred have greatly escalated. You can meet representatives of racist, nationalist, fascist, and neo-Nazi groups going out on the street now. American exceptionalism is the main domestic and international policy of the United States. This has been the main American ideology for hundreds of years, from the very beginning of the existence of the United States. In the fight against racism, social work represents social prevention and the promotion of racial equality.
The fight against racial discrimination is the goal of all democratic States. The restriction of human rights and freedoms contradicts the values of modern society. Prevention occupies a special place. With the help of preventive measures, it is possible to eliminate the social difficulties of an individual or a group of persons during the period of the emergence of the problem.
