The author is credible as the comparison of the primary causes of the issue in the U.S., England, and Africa is supported by the data from the UNICEF. The conclusions are clear because of the explanation that infant mortality results from insufficient preventive measures and procedures. Moreover, my colleague argues that financial instability is a common contributing factor in the three countries. Based on UNICEF data, the discussion post reveals evidence that England has the lowest rate of infant mortality when compared to the U.S. and Africa.
Several clarifications can enrich the discussion post and support my colleague’s claims with substantial additional data. Africa may not be regarded as a developing country since it is a continent consisting of several sovereign states with different indexes of development and quality of healthcare. Moreover, the data from the World Health Organization (WHO) might be utilized in addition to the UNICEF statistics to improve the evidence-based analysis and comparison between the countries. The author also examines the role of the public health nurse as an advocate who performs assessments and immunizations. The qualities of a nurse as a healthcare provider, including patience, knowledge, and desire to serve people, are consistent with the nursing roles in Standard 7 (Ethics) and Standard 12 (Education) by the AMA (2015). Overall, the discussion post might be viewed as the foundation for further research, as it presents essential information on infant mortality and the role of public health nurses in a concise but informative manner.
