Justice and Policies Among the Law Enforcers

Event/Situation

Significantly, in the police departments, the consent agreement concentrates on upholding justice and policies among the law enforcers. In the case study, the insight comprised four riders in California apprehended twelve years earlier. The detention of the four riders involved evidence planting and false accusations by the officers. The case took a long to prove by the court to determine whether the four riders were guilty of arrest and forging evidence. The second instance happened in Oakland, whereby 119 individuals filed a case in 2000 against officers for being brutality victims and mandated the OPD to conform with internal investigations (Cruz-Rosas, 2011). The Oakland police department (OPD) was to highlight the process of munitions withdrawal in public to deter hurting innocent citizens. The OPD compliance enhances the internal investigations procedure and other associated discipline areas.

One primary impropriety was the case presented by four riders against the police division. An officer aged 23 years commenced testifying before Keith Batt by stating he joined the riders group after graduating from the police academy (Cruz-Rosas, 2011). His evidence showcased that most law enforcers utilize unorthodox approaches to tackle certain departmental issues. The police officers planted illicit drugs on the four riders to effectively arrest them and present them in a law court. The junior officer testified against the riders, indicating to have deployed unjust ways to merit from the public. The internal investigation department barrier makes the case assessment process take long. The investigation process compromise resulted in the United States department of justice (DOJ) oversights due to the OPD’s internal affairs office hampered analysis.

The consent provisions should acknowledge the constitution’s authority in facilitating good policing practices. The internal investigation performance of the police division depends on the partnership between the court and the officers. However, the consent must communicate the community issues since the society highly consults the law enforcement department. The agreement helps the OPD establish a sustainable strategy when handling cases and assists in engendering justice among the policing system members and civilians. The delay by the Oakland police division internal affairs by gathering evidence shows default levels.

The department is projected to implement actions, including undertaking internal investigations and binding to the drafted agreement. Significantly, the OPD must conform with the Oakland police negotiated settlement agreement (NSA) to ensure the entire case components have been complied with, and adequate information from the police department is obtained (The City of Oakland, 2021). The OPD must make some changes to help advance the law enforcers’ performance who abide by the contract. The allocation of weapons to junior officers who recently graduated from the police academy can be transformed to minimize cruelty cases. The division can transition the approach of serving to orthodox grounded on the agreement consent to reduce the misconduct and citizens’ complaints.

Initiating Causes

The absence of sufficient justice systems is the primary cause of law enforcers’ savagery. Some police believe that the courts are extremely amoral and can be released without repercussions. The steady system is the cause for all kinds of police cruelty spearheaded by the citizens. The police division takes an extensive period to undertake internal investigations, which is the main source of information required by magistrates to provide justice (Department of Justice, 2020). For example, the four riders’ case took twelve years, making the sufferers unable to follow it. The consent decree provisions should tackle delay concerns in investigating the responsibility of OPD that was not considered in the riders’ situation. The provision of armament usage is crucial among enforcers to minimize the threats and brutality during investigations. Secondly, the undefined system in the law courts serves as initiating cause in the riders’ exposition. The justice authorities keep shifting the case hearing, making it impossible to keep the proof unscathed. The provision of witness protection and assessing testimonies presented can solve the issue of police using their skills to harass the accused people (Greenberger, 2016). The connection between the consent decree provision and the initiating cause can substantially tackle injustice-associated concerns entailing the law enforcers.

Virtual Police Department

Considerably, the virtual police department should concentrate on generating a bond and consciousness between the civilians and the responsibility of the police system. The effects encountered in the rider’s case subjected by the enforcer’s division showcase that the virtual police system (VPS) should execute significant provisions highlighted in the contract. Through the VPS, the public can become aware and acquire justifications for internal investigation delays. The primary segments include investigations, management, and forensic examination implemented by experts in police centers. The VPS can assist in collecting evidence to justify that the four law enforcers unlawfully apprehended the rider’s group and planted false evidence (Cannon et al., 2018). From the reporting by the citizens, the court claims demanded forensic analysis to comprehend the issue of false evidence. Comprehensive investigation efforts can assist VPS to deter similar obstacles experienced by the subject police system.

The management mode in the law enforcement division can be enhanced by instilling policies that explicit officers on the armaments usage. The weapons given to execute the defense responsibilities of the enforcers in the society are misused, resulting in misconduct reports. When handling a particular case, the VPS can advance the correlation between the justice system and the police department via an organized and minimized extension. It is vital to have frequent police performance examinations to help minimize the cases of civilian grievances against the defense system. DOJ must determine the cases as it has more authority to impact the VPS’s credibility. The division must ensure that all enforcers are versed with the citizen’s projections and responsible for the given munitions, and it is obligated for their committed crimes.
