Companies working in the hospitality industry face the need to develop their own vision of their mission, and to express it in their Vision and Mission Statements. The success of any particular company in this area depends on how wise and well-thought-of these statements along with their implementation to life will be. In the following paper, the two companies working in the hospitality industry, Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) and MGM Las Vegas along with their Mission Statements will be examined in terms of their similarities and differences.
In addition, the conclusion concerning developing my own Mission Statement for the service concept will be made. Evaluating the situation in the area of hospitality service along with the Mission Statements of the two companies under consideration, I believe that my own mission statements should combine the respect to such important points as putting the interests of the customers in the first place along with the necessity to care about the environment and appreciating diversity in the world.
First of all, the Mission Statements of the two companies under consideration are to be analyzed in terms of their similarities and differences. The Vision and Mission statement by Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) is as follows:
Las Vegas Sands Corp. is committed to protecting the environment and being the preeminent sustainable resort development corporation in the world. To achieve these goals, we will continue to develop and implement environmental practices for our existing resorts, and all future developments, that protect our natural resources, offer our team members a safe and healthy work environment, and enhance the resort experience of our guests and the quality of life in the communities in which we operate (Sands Eco 360° Mission Statement par.1).
And the Vision and Mission statement by MGM Las Vegas is as follows: “MGM Resorts International is the leader in entertainment & hospitality – a diverse collection of extraordinary people, distinctive brands and best in class destinations. Working together, we create partnerships and experiences that engage, entertain and inspire” (MGM Resorts International – Mission Statement par.1).
Analyzing the two above-mentioned statements, it appears that the companies have a similar vision concerning the importance of seeing the interests of their customers as their top priority, and some slight differences in the means which would help them to do so including their attitude to the environmental protection; in particular, Las Vegas Sands Corp. has its significant difference in emphasizing their mission of taking care about the environment while providing their services to the customers. One more interesting point can be noticed in the statement by MGM Las Vegas which establishes among its top priorities the importance of respecting diversity in the world, and its desire to reveal it in its services which might be very important for their customers from all over the world.
Finally, the Mission Statement of my own will be discussed. I believe that the two companies under consideration present their wise concepts as to the service in the area of hospitality, and for this reason, I believe that my Mission Statement is to adopt the ideas from both of these statements. Thus, my Mission Statement is: “Combining our experience and skills along with creativity and respect to diversity in the world and the environment, we create unforgettable memories which will warm your hearts and minds through years and years”.
