Legislative Matrix in the United States: Analyzing Policies and Their Impacts

Each of the US states has a unique system of legislation and represents a separate unit with its governing structures and authorities, which, in their turn, are subordinate to the central administrative apparatus. In Florida, one of the southernmost regions of the country, the government is also concentrated in the hands of the governor, as well as the members of the Congress, who represent the region at the state level. The influence of these people on the development of Florida and the interests of its citizens are largely determined by the policy directions and decisions that the authorized persons take to work on certain issues.

Florida State Governor and State Senators

The Governor of Florida is Rick Scott who was elected in 2011 and has been the head of the state since then. The scope of his tasks includes monitoring the implementation of state laws and any acts relevant to the civil procedure code. Also, the governor is an official person who is responsible for all the spheres of state life: industry, demography, medicine, education, etc. The responsibility that he has is quite high since such a position requires constant control and non-stop work.

There are also two senators who represent Florida on the state level in the United States Senate; they are Bill Nelson who is a Democrat and Marco Rubio who supports the interests of the Republican Party (GovTrack, 2017b). They represent the whole state; the first of them is a senior senator, and the second is a junior one. The task of these people is to convey the will of people at the state level, to propose possible changes in the system of legislation, and to be responsible for many events that occur in a particular region.

State Representatives and Their Duties

The state of Florida has twenty-seven representatives who are included in the United States House of Representatives (GovTrack, 2017a). These people are elected by local people and sometimes are called congressmen or congresswomen since both men and women develop this board. Depending on the district of the state, all these people are elected for a two-year term (there are four hundred and thirty-five congressional districts in the country, and each of them has its congressional member). Those people who are included in this legislative board can be re-elected, and some of them have already been working for more than two terms. They form committees that help the local senators to solve specific issues and convey the people’s will at the state level.

Collaborative Work to Support the Citizens of the State

Despite the division of legislative boards on different structures, there is rather close cooperation among them, and the interaction is an integral component of successful and efficient work aimed at improving the conditions of people’s lives (Rivard et al., 2016). Some laws and legislative bills have been developed for the period of such cooperation, and most of them were designed to improve particular spheres of lives, for example, medicine, education, etc. These boards work in order to represent the interests of those people who live beside them, and if these activities are successful, the chances that this or that senator or a state representative will be re-elected are high enough.

Conclusion

Thus, the influence of the representatives of different legislation boards is mainly determined due to the activities that they perform and the directions of work that they adhere. The system of government in Florida is similar to the systems of other states with governors, senators, etc. The cooperation among all these people is an integral part of the state’s successful policy aimed at improving people’s lives.
