Introduction

Moreover, attitudes can be influenced by ethnicity, race, employment, and similar factors. Even though American society seeks to support pregnant women, their health, and the child’s well-being, some problems affect this group.

I think that pregnant women are seen as those in whose hands the future is and those who should be treated with respect in American culture at large. Most of society understands that it is necessary to protect the health of pregnant women, as their position and condition are more vulnerable. However, pregnant women often face difficulties and limitations caused by social attitudes. For example, employment is a significant problem – the possibility of pregnancy can be a concern for the employer and cause a refusal. In general, pregnancy is often seen as a problem in workplaces. For women receiving education, pregnancy can be an obstacle to graduation. A significant concern is the widespread negative attitude towards pregnant women with low socioeconomic status (Vedam et al., 2019). Another reason for a bad treatment may be the race of a woman or her partner (Vedam et al., 2019). Therefore, there are still many areas for work to improve the situation for pregnant women in American society.
Preparation for Pregnancy
Preparation for pregnancy includes several essential points that begin with deciding to have a child or confirming the pregnancy. The modern development of medicine allows many couples who experience difficulties getting pregnant. Preparation for childbirth also includes the choice of care type women want since there are various ways to carry out birth. Most women choose hospital delivery over the home, and this choice is safer. Families waiting for children also attend courses that prepare them for the process of childbirth. At the same time, less attention is devoted to the moments that follow after birth – parenthood and subsequent changes in lifestyle and family relations.
The Role of the Father
Fathers support mothers during pregnancy, childbirth, and the subsequent upbringing of the child. However, in the modern world, the father’s role has changed compared to the past. Previously, men had the role of the family’s breadwinner, so they were responsible for financial support. Today, women are more independent and flexible in their careers and can secure their financial position. As a result, fathers take on more roles in housekeeping and raising children. During pregnancy, they have the role of ensuring the comfort of the future mother, not just material, but moral – providing emotional support. Therefore, modern fathers need to be more and better prepared for the birth of a child than before.
Conclusion
Pregnancy and childbirth are incredible and often complex experiences in the family. Depending on the society and culture in which the couple lives, the attitude towards pregnancy and childbirth may differ. A more respectful and careful attitude towards expectant mothers is adopted in American society. However, there are several problems, such as difficulties at the workplace or discrimination. Future parents prepare for childbirth by choosing the type of care appropriate for them and taking courses. An essential aspect of modern parenthood is the transformation of the role of fathers. Now, material well-being is less dependent on them, and they are more involved in the household.
