A distinct executive leadership style is what sets a leader apart from previous and future leaders. Many people tend to find a sense of calm and reassurance when they are able to make connections between the previous and the current leader. Given the fact that presidential work is filled with various hardships and issues inherent only to this occupation, certain points of overlapping are bound to appear.
The question of whether president Biden is more similar in his leadership style to Jimmy Carter or Ronald Regan requires an examination of the two presidents’ styles. Regan’s personality was an engaging, charismatic, and outgoing leader. Carter’s approach was rooted in a lack of selfishness, honesty, and integrity. While in order to have people follow his lead, president Biden had to exude a kind of charisma and confidence, his personality is rather similar to Carter’s. This is exemplified through his tweets on accounts @POTUS and @JoeBiden. The main focus of his tweet is delivering information straight to the point, such as when he shares the plans to reduce the deficit by more than $1 trillion in 2022 (Biden). Even when he denounces arguments made by his opponents, his language is clear and reserved.
In conclusion, Biden’s executive leadership style is closer to Carter’s than Regan’s. It is natural that people would want to draw comparisons between various rules and, based on that, try to infer their quality of leadership. Biden’s focus on clear delivery and the factual nature of the information he provides makes him more similar to Carter. However, it is important to note that to obtain his current position, Biden had to possess a certain charisma and conviction.
