Promoting Socially Irresponsible Products to Stakeholders

Introduction

Infidelity is morally wrong as it involves the breaking of moral virtues such as faithfulness. However, two consenting adults having sexual relationships is not against the law. Moreover, if their relationship remains discrete, it is likely that no one will be negatively affected. Noteworthy, there are four primary steps to apply in social responsibility, including economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic, respectively (Ferrell et al., 2018). In the case of operating a legal but socially irresponsible site where people can cheat on their spouses’ option, A is the better alternative. Although promoting cheating on spouses is morally wrong, there is nothing illegal with the practice, and stakeholders have the responsibility to choose what is right.

Discussion

People still cheat whether or not the love connection brand by Avid Life Media exists. One of the defenses that sex workers provide is that the activity has existed for as long as there has been human existence in a communal setting (Anderson, 2021). The implication is that some people in the society will always have extra-marital affairs. Providing a platform for people to do what they are used to doing is not a crime, just as much as stopping the business is not a way of promoting moral standards. Moreover, people are likely to be safe and maintain secrecy which protects their partners from getting hurt because what they do not know cannot hurt them. Therefore, the business owner should not be crucified for providing a safe avenue for an immoral practice that stakeholders need.

Moreover, as a business person, the first obligation is to have a strong and sustainable performance, compliance with legal requirements, and ethical actions (Ferrell et al., 2018). Avid Life Media is making a profit, and the enterprise is sustainable because some people will never be satisfied by a single spouse. Moreover, it is legal and tries to ensure that the data of its clients are well protected and private. To some extent, the platform is ethical as it protects the spouses from being discovered and getting a divorce. The implication is that what the hackers did was illegal and irresponsible, as it even led to the death of at least one person by suicide. If the hackers had not interfered, there would have been no causalities, and the business would continue without any of the clients being discovered. Thus, it is the responsibility of every person to decide on their personal morals as long as their actions do not cause harm to other people in society.

The Impact of Carbon Restrictions

Global warming remains one of the worst nightmares of the current decade. It has many detrimental effects, including rising temperatures, extinction of some species, food insecurity, and health problems like skin cancer and pollution. Any business that makes a profit at the expense of such effects does not deserve to continue with its operations. The implication is that the decision by the Obama administration to place limits on air pollution was commendable. It is unfortunate that the Trump government reversed some of the laws to protect people from losing their employment in the short term since a healthy nation will always have a way of economic sustenance. Option A, which acknowledges that carbon emissions regulations will profit the country and the environment in the wrong run, is the most viable response on the matter. Although some people may lose employment and companies shut down, a small sacrifice is necessary to protect the current and future generations from the consequences of carbon emissions.

Climate change due to global warming is a social issue that is associated with the common good, the idea that since humans live in a community, the social rules should be beneficial to all people. Companies need to ensure that their businesses are sustainable, protect the consumers, and uphold corporate governance (Ferrell et al., 2018). The utilities that see measures to protect the environment as burdensome are unsustainable and should not be allowed to continue operating just because they employ a few people. Noteworthy, even the people who are currently benefiting will be affected by breathing in the polluted air and experiencing the global warming effects. Therefore, the stringent measures set by the Obama administration are relevant in ensuring that corporations are responsible for the impact they create in society.

Conclusion

The laws that prohibit or regulate carbon emissions encourage companies to think outside the box and innovate other sources of energy. Noteworthy, the climate change laws codify the policy ambitions of a country with respect to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Eskander & Fankhauser, 2020). Countries that do not reverse their climate protection laws end up promoting a pure environment that is conducive to humans, animals, and plants. Besides, people have started innovating other sources of clean energy, such as biofuel, solar, and geothermal, which are less harmful to the environment. The people who lose jobs after the closure of the power plants that emit carbon can find alternative employment in other sectors. Noteworthy, the enactment of the laws can only remain beneficial if there is a discipline in the implementation. In the long term, the country will become more innovative and cleaner as it reverses the damage caused by global warming.
