Public Health Procedures and Their Significance

Introduction

Healthcare-related investment has a special meaning for people in developing countries. Many individuals from these areas do not have an opportunity to spend money on proper health care. Therefore, there is a significant need to distribute and promote health interventions in developing countries. Vaccinations and other related procedures are public health tools that contribute to disease prevention and control. Examining how health intervention measures can control population growth in low- and middle-income countries and influence sustainability by linking to the demographic transition is vital.

Demographic Transition Model

Stages of demographic transition are essential to consider to discuss population growth. The first stage is characterized by high birth and death rates, while the second stage denotes the implementation of medicine, lowering the death rate, and maintaining the birth level. Many developing countries are at the second stage nowadays, potentially creating overpopulation (Yale University). In the third stage, the birth rate tends to become lower due to improved economic and financial conditions, including access to contraception.

Then, the fourth level stabilizes the population level; this stage is typical for middle- and high-income countries, in which the economy and level of education are prosperous (Yale University). The last stage suggests countries with lower birth rates than in the abovementioned levels. Therefore, it is seen that the more economically prosperous the country is, the lower its birth rate. It is not connected to people’s unwillingness to have children; instead, it is linked to high awareness and responsibility.

Population and Sustainability

Understanding which factors underlie the importance of population sustainability in developing countries is essential. In a public speech, Bill Gates mentions specific procedures for population control, which can confuse society. Indeed, the significance of birth control in low- and middle-income countries is concerning; for example, many people cannot afford to provide newborn children with sufficient needs. It can lead to poverty and various diseases developing in children; hence, the government strives to inform people about giving birth in inappropriate financial and health conditions.

For instance, the Kenyan government launched a campaign cooperating with USAID to promote contraception among African women (Clowes para 6). Public health investments, such as social campaigns, vaccines, and healthcare procedures, can raise awareness among people from developing countries. It prevents excessive childbirth and saves many individuals from poverty, informing individuals about the negative consequences of overpopulation and giving them practical knowledge.

Moreover, several factors influence individuals’ sustainability apart from population density. The country’s economic stability impacts the population’s wealth, assuming healthcare costs, governmental security, and public institutions, including schools and hospitals. Governments of developing countries require economic and financial support as they currently lack it (Yale University). Accordingly, the level of education and income influence individuals’ sustainability. Specifically, education provides society with valuable knowledge and experience on essential life aspects, raising social awareness.

Conclusion

Overall, public health investments strive to inform people about adverse outcomes of a particular behavior, including high birth rates in low- and middle-income countries. Specific procedures aim to sustain economic and financial stability in developing countries and prevent the population from financial collapse, which excessive childbirth can cause. Many low- and middle-income countries are in the second stage of demographic transition, which can lead to overpopulation and create extensive issues on federal and structural levels. Apart from this, the level of education, income, and the country’s economic stability influence population sustainability.
