Social Changes After the Coronavirus Pandemic

The global coronavirus pandemic is rapidly changing the economic, behavioural, and social aspects of people’s lives. Even before it ends, people feel the impact the coronavirus has had on the world. Nevertheless, in addition to the global impact, the virus has also significantly affected each individual. With the appearance of the disease in my life, the number of social interactions decreased, sports activity increased, and self-development opportunities opened up, to which I previously paid little attention.

The most crucial aspect that has changed in my life since the introduction of quarantine is that I have become more involved in sports and have put my physical health in order. After the authorities introduced lockdown, many people were trapped in the four walls of their homes. Even though I was not active before the restrictions were imposed, sports were a special ritual. Not as a set of exercises necessary to maintain the body in good shape, but as one of the options for a fun time. While at home, I began to pay more attention to the activity, working out with various videos and exercises found on the Internet. These workouts help me stay in shape and release my unspent energy.

The second important aspect that changed in my life was the lack of interaction with people and travel. Even if my friends and family have already coped with the coronavirus, most states will not want to take the risk and ease the restrictive measures. At the same time, it should be understood that the situation in different states may differ from each other dramatically. Thus, I have not had live contact with some of my relatives and friends for several months. Psychologists argue that communication is of great importance in the formation of the human psyche, its development, and the formation of intelligent, cultural behaviour (Venkatesan 57). In this case, the lack of interaction with people significantly affects my psychological health, as I am a sociable person and straightforward communication in social networks is not enough for me.

Furthermore, during the quarantine, I began to devote much time to self-development and self-education. Before all the coronavirus events, I constantly postponed reading the books I was interested in, telling myself that I did not have time for this. However, people do not have to read the book; they can listen to it in an audiobook format while eating, doing homework, or doing sports. After constantly reading and listening to books, I noticed improvements in memory and the ability to concentrate for a long time. Self-development books helped me gain self-confidence, understand a little better about my mental health, and contributed to a general broadening of my horizons and the emergence of inspiration.

To conclude, I would like to underline skills that have become visible when writing an essay. When drawing out the differences between writing an essay and a diary, the first difference to note is that all the rules of punctuation and grammar must be observed when writing an essay. In the diary, in turn, a person can write more chaotically without observing the grammatical rules. Personal notes also involve the use of colloquial expressions and abbreviations. Also, the lack of personification in a formal style is considered an essential skill for me. It is somewhat difficult to adapt to a more business-like writing style, but I find it a beneficial skill that may come in handy in the future in the professional field.
