Introduction
Technology makes people’s life more rewarding and adds beautiful colors to them. However, it also has its weak points and becomes a reason for significant newly emerged difficulties. Such a situation with technology is observed in several areas including the area of communication. Nowadays, the expense of personal contact allows people to communicate to other people from the most diversified lands in the world sitting in front of their computer. Certainly, this benefit cannot be underestimated. However, such technological expanse created some new difficulties as people tend to completely change their communicative habits. As a result, there exist two parties in the argument of whether technology can be considered valuable for communication among people. In the following paper, both of their positions will be discussed. In addition, the conclusion will be made concerning their rightness. Overall, the evaluation of the situation suggests that those who support the use of technological development in the communication between people are right; however, such communication is to be exercised reasonably.
Opposition of technology implementation in communication
First, evaluating the position of those who oppose the value of technological expansion for the use in the area of communication, it should be stated that their point of view has its strong points. In particular, such people emphasize that sitting at home next to one’s computer an individual develops several significant problems. One of them is a change in his/her communicative habits. This problem creates many psychological difficulties for people in their communication as they lose their communicative skills in a face-to-face situation (Barbalet 45). Such problem, in turn, is the source of the other problem as people are community-oriented beings having the necessity in face-to-face communication. The lack of personal communication face to face is also responsible for such terrible problems nowadays as the syndrome of loneliness. Though people majorly live in vast urban territories with millions of fellow humans, it is difficult for them to find a spouse or friends for spending their time together outside the internet facilities.
Supporters of technology implementation in communication
Speaking about the position of those who support the use of technology in communication between people, it should be said that is also well-grounded. They provide numerous evidence, that new communicative technologies allow people to accomplish a lot of important goals such as efficient use of their time, finding cheap ways of communicating on a global scale, and so on (Molitor 62). This is especially beneficial for business communication as it opens ways for much more efficient cooperation between people in different lands which is very important for the global economy nowadays. The other area where communicative technologies make their revolution is the area of education. According to Yaure and Shawn (288), “in an educational world of increased competition and rising educational prices, students and parents receive better opportunities through the use of technology in communication”. Truly, today more avenues are opened for distance education. People from the most diversified and remote corners of the Earth can acquire their distant education online through the use of communicative technologies. Communication technologies are also used in politics nowadays. So many high officials including Presidents and Prime Ministers of many countries use communicative technologies in their daily operations. For example, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, communicates with the heads of the country’s establishments, institutions, and administrations through the use of technologies providing visual connection on the internet daily.
Situation evaluation
Evaluating the positions by the two parties in this argument, it should be stated that they both have their strong points. However, the position of those who support the use of technology in communication appears to be more reasonable and practical. They prove that the use of communicative technology is utterly beneficial in many businesses, educational and political areas. Of course, modern benefits provided by technological developments are to be applied wisely and reasonably. In particular, people are not to underestimate the value of personal communication. They do not have to replace their skills in the area of personal communication with the skills of online communication. In people’s private life, it is very important to resort to the use of virtual communication rarely.
Conclusion
Concluding on all the above-discussed information, it should be stated that modern communication technologies occupy their due place in our daily life. Several significant benefits are connected to the use of such technologies in practice. However, this situation also has negative points. In particular, as people shift to the use of online communication in their daily life, they develop some psychological problems leading to loneliness and dissatisfaction. For this reason, the argument as to the value of modern communicating technologies becomes heated. Evaluating the positions of the two parties in this argument, it appears that the supporters of the use of communicating technologies have better evidence to prove their rightness. However, some valuable ideas by the opponents of the use of modern communicating technologies are to be taken into consideration.
