However, a particular question is what will happen to patients’ personal information, especially in light of the growing number of data breaches and cybercrime. Another issue is the development of illnesses and ailments as a result of prolonged usage of virtual reality or cell phones (The Medical Futurist, 2019). Virtual PTSD or video game-induced epilepsy are two examples.
Another intriguing technical breakthrough that has lately been pushed is digital tattoos. With the advancement of 3D printing, applying digital tattoos for a certain amount of time is feasible. During the process, several polymers are employed exclude the possibility of irritation (Xu et al., 2020). Furthermore, tattoo parlor hygiene standards are questionable, resulting in a variety of skin illnesses. Digital tattoos have a distinct health benefit in this regard. This invention, however, raises a number of difficulties. For example, because of the limited availability of 3D printers worldwide, the cost of these tattoos will skyrocket (Xu et al., 2020). Furthermore, nothing is known about how the body would respond to these tattoos, necessitating medical studies and research in the field.
Stem cells, the most contentious advancement at the moment, have the potential to treat a variety of severe ailments. Stem cells can be implemented to regenerate tissue, and scientists may be able to employ them to produce organs (Medical News Today, 2018). They can also be beneficial in treating cardiovascular disease and restoring brain tissue (Medical News Today, 2018). However, since a fertilized egg cannot mature into a person, the use of embryonic stem cells undermines human nature from an ethical standpoint (Medical News Today, 2018). Furthermore, human cells are frequently injected into animals in stem cell research. This infuriated the public, who saw it as a morally heinous act.
