In this project, healthcare organizations will be considered, i.e., the hospitals and medical clinics are the major areas of research. The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York is the best example of hospitals that needs telemedicine. A significant number of hospitals has ignored the positive impacts of technology on the healthcare sector. Research has affirmed that it is the best service that can be introduced to the healthcare sector. More specifically, now that the USA’s economy is facing healthcare problems, the plan will be easily accepted by both the federal government and stakeholders. Therefore, the program of telemedicine is essential in the global medical world.
Historical Information
Mount Sinai hospital is number 16 among the best hospitals in the USA. The hospital has about 1103 beds and, more significantly, the best pediatrics center. The pediatric center, Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital, is also recognized among the country’s top children’s hospitals by the publication’s 2020-21 “Best Children’s Hospital” report. Best hospitals are always determined by the nature services offered as well as the section of children. Therefore, Mt. Sinai has stood among the best children service providers in New York and the American economy. The fact that this hospital has provided the best services cannot be ignored. Thus, receiving many awards in the healthcare sector.
Mount Sinai is among the most dedicated hospitals in service delivery to patients and the external communities. The hospital has provided sufficient outreach programs that have targeted the marginalized groups in society. Similarly, the hospital has been among the best in volunteer services to the community. As a result, the hospital receives many patients across many departments daily.
Impact of Telemedicine on Mount Sinai Hospital
Telemedicine is the application of technology such as mobile phones, computers, and any form of communication to receive healthcare services. For a long time, the patients in the United States’ remote areas have been thinking of how to receive better healthcare services from the top hospitals such as Mount Sinai Hospitals and many others. Telecommunications come as a way of helping the patients get the services regardless of the place. There are many forms that the patients or anybody needing healthcare services can get them easily. For instance, somebody in the rural or eastern parts of America can get nutrition services by just watching a video from a Mount Sinai Hospital doctor from the online portal. Besides, the data is protected and very safe through hospital technology systems. Therefore, telecommunication is the best way to get healthcare services.
Purpose and Target Population
There has been a problem of healthcare service delivery and many other communication sectors to the remote regions. The low-income earners in society have been ignored for a long time. The debate of lack of sufficient health care service access to the low-income earners has been the day’s talk for a very long time. Research by (Spicker,2020) has affirmed that the United States over 97% of its land covering remote areas. As such, these people in the areas have not been receiving equal healthcare service to the rich. Hence, telemedicine is the easiest way to solve the disparities in medical and healthcare globally.
Impact on the Larger Health Sector
Solving the issue of service delivery through telecommunication will help the Mount Sinai Hospital and the ministry of Health at large. More especially, through the nature of the services that will be offered. Every citizen deserves better service delivery, and as such, enhancing the communication platforms will help solve the issue. The telecommunication service, mainly through the portal and online communication, will increase internet access in many rural areas. As such, the department of information technology will have benefited. For a long time, the ministry of health in many organizations has been looking for a better way to address service delivery. This project will solve a lot of challenges in the healthcare service sector. Therefore, promoting better and secure communication platforms.
How to Address the Issue?
There are many ways of addressing the problem of technology implementation in the healthcare sector. The challenge is to have sufficient support from the best organization. The first step will be to create a high level of awareness of the issue through media or communication with people one on one from the remote to the urban sectors. For instance, we are ensuring that society understands the need for this service. However, applying the same technology in gaining social media influence will be the easiest way of reaching a huge percentage of the people. The next step will be developing the proposal and researching to ensure that the health ministry has recognized this problem. Similarly, through the proposal, the project will gain enough support from many sectors like information technology and health care sector. Therefore, the main target is to receive support from Mount Sinai hospitals through external support on the service’s need.
Evidence
There has been a challenge in the USA’s healthcare sector and to any economy in the world. For example, most people believe that rich people can afford better services or healthcare access. To have a clear view of the saying, I researched a sample of patients and visitors at Mount Sinai Hospital. I sampled about 100 patients: 30 patients, 20 visitors, 30 people from the surrounding community, and 20 staff. Out of the 100 participants, 85 of them accepted that the poor had been ignored in the USA’s economic planning and many other nations. Besides, the need for telecommunication was supported by 78 participants. Therefore, this was a clear confirmation that this service would help the healthcare sector and the economy at large.
Healthcare Disparities
A significant number of the USA population is living below the poverty line as per the national statistics. For instance, in 2019, about 34 million people in the USA lived below poverty lines (Spicker, 2020). This population represents the people living in the rural regions where they cannot get better healthcare service. It is hard for such people to get to urban areas like New York City to experience better healthcare service at the Mount Sinai Hospital and other major hospitals. Based on the research I conducted at mount Sinai hospital, I had questions about healthcare service disparities in the rural regions. The feedback I received supported the fact that healthcare disparity is a national issue in the American population. Among the 100 participants, 80% of the participants responded by accepting that it is a challenge that needs to be addressed in the USA economy.
Number of Patients
The number of patients being received at Mount Sinai is increasing every day because of the good service. The good service is slowly being affected because of the high number of patients being received at the best performing hospitals. As such, the healthcare personnel is limited to the time that they see their patients. The telemedicine aspect in the hospital will help the patients get better service at home, and the hospitals will be able to control the number of visits to increase the attention to the patients at the hospitals. Similarly, the patients in the rural regions will receive better service from the best doctors. Thus, this healthcare disparity issue will be reducing and increased quality of doctor’s time with patients will be achieved.
Patient Complains
A significant number of patients complain about the low access to healthcare services in the USA. Though the media have ignored this issue, it is affecting many people. The increase in the number of patient’s complaints created more concern over hospitals’ communication issues in America. Only a few hospitals have invested in the telecommunication industry to help patients in rural regions. Addressing the issue has been a dream which has not been achieved by many presidents in the USA. However, President Obama tried to solve the issue, and it was solved at a bigger percentage. Healthcare could be afforded by many, but the challenge being how to access quality healthcare. Therefore, complaints have raised an out crying concern in the healthcare sector.
Implementation Plan
The project plan mainly targets the rural regions with help from Mount Sinai Hospital and other big hospitals in New York City and America. The major reason why we target rural areas is because of the existing healthcare disparities in service delivery. As such, this project aims at promoting equality to all levels of the population. Through equality for all the people despite the income, the world will achieve and solve the main issues in healthcare. The pan also targets communication time, service delivery, and data security. Therefore, by solving such issues, it will be easy for the economy to prosper.
Timeline
The project will start by creating awareness from January to April. At this time, the target will be gaining more support from the people and ensuring that it performs well in the targeted regions. Also, the researcher will collect views from the targeted population that is the rural areas. The proposal will be designed from May to July, and the data collection methodology will be developed. The proposal will mark the actual start of the project. From August to September, data will be collected as per the designed methodology. The data will help us confirm the impacts and how the people will welcome the project. The last process will be an implementation, which will be drone from October to November. Finally, before the project goes, further evaluation will ensure all the requirements and objectives were met.
Additional Resources
The rural areas are sparsely populated, which means that the research will take more time if additional resources are not met. For instance, it is expected that the sample population will be interviewed in two months. Thus, transport will be needed to travel to the places, technology staff to handle internet issues, and additional researchers to help in data collection. All these services cannot be achieved unless more financial support is added. Therefore, the plan needs more financial support from both public and private organizations.
Federal Support
The role played by the federal government in the project cannot be ignored more, especially security. The project needs security personnel for it to be done well. The fact that the research will be conducted in rural regions means that this research needs more government security. Also, the federal government is expected to pass information to the people from the media. The information must reach the rural regions for the research to be conducted.
Ethical Information
Research ethics plays an essential role in the process of research. For instance, the researchers will ensure that the participants understand the research process of research s ell why it is recommended. However, it is only through the participant’s consent that we will be able to collect the data. As such, some of the participants might reject, but the decision will be respected. Besides, the research has to assure the participants of the security of their data. For example, it will not be used anywhere except for the research purpose.
Evaluation Plan
After the project has been implemented based on the researchers’ information, it will be evaluated to identify any potential challenges. Through evaluation, it will be easy for the remedies created after completion. Besides, through evaluation, the reviews from the population segment will be collected. This will help in solving the potential challenges of the project. The feedback collected will enable the researcher to make a final report that will be sent to stakeholders. Thus, it will be easy for the economy to come with relevant strategies to solve the existing challenges in healthcare.
Communication Management Program
The progress report will be shared at the end of every financial quarter for assurance that the project is being done. Besides, the population will be giving feedback on the media platforms to show their satisfaction with the project. Thus, it will be easy to conduct the progress communication plan after the completion of the project. Change management plan will be mainly done at the hospitals conducting this plan. For instance, before the project is implemented the Mount Sinai and other hospitals that will be undertaking the program will be trained on how the change will be affected and the requirements. After the change has been affected, a regular assessment will ensure that the project becomes a success. Also, the challenges and strengths will be shared with the stakeholders to improve future projects.
