The Educative Process of Modern Research Students

Introduction

Science has always been an integral part of human life as it influences the further development of society and promotes its evolution. It is also obvious that research work is the aspect that guarantees reception of new information and data which is vital for the development of science. That is why it is impossible not to give much attention to this issue. Nowadays, research education, or research training, attracts great attention as it can promote the increase of the level of general knowledge. Additionally, it can improve the effectiveness and of research supervision and promote its further development (Pearson & Brew, 2002). Resting on these facts, the given article tends to analyze the modern approach to supervisor development which is based on assumption that for the further development of this sphere it is necessary to understand what supervisors do.

The main idea

The main idea of the given research article is to investigate and examine the main peculiarities of the educative process of modern research students which are influenced by the existing research environment. The authors state the fact that nowadays research is taken as one of the main aspects of the successful development of a state including such issues as national economic growth. For that reason, this issue obtains great significance for the government of any country, and a shift of priorities could be observed. More and more attention is given to the development of research skills among students for them to be able to work in a current research environment. Under these conditions, new term research training appears. The authors of the article try to give a clear definition to this issue to obtain the image of the main peculiarities of this phenomenon. The fact that traditional education becomes too narrow today is obvious and this tendency leads to the appearance of the need for research training. The article tends to outline the main aspects of research training that result from the restriction of classical education. Research training supposes the development of different sets of skills among students for them to be able to satisfy existing demands of society and employers. That is why special attention is given to skills that can help to increase the efficiency of a person and promote his/her development as a specialist.

The authors also cogitate about the main changes which can expect supervision in this context. They state that the “goal of all those with supervisory responsibilities is to facilitate the student becoming an independent professional researcher and scholar in their field, capable of adapting to various research arenas” (Pearson & Brew, 2002, 139). With this in mind, it is possible to say that the necessity of a change of some traditional methods and practices used in supervisor education is obvious. Modern supervisors should be ready to undertake the fact that it is necessary to develop themselves to be ready to face modern challenges. Nowadays, supervision has a great number of complex tasks which could be accomplished only with the help of research training.

Conclusion

At the end of the article, the authors conclude that nowadays development of adaptable, flexible supervisory practice, which takes into account peculiarities of the modern world, is necessary (Pearson & Brew, 2002).

Having read the work, it is possible to make a certain conclusion. It becomes obvious that the issue of research training is rather topical nowadays and it should be investigated for a better understanding of the issue.
