Summary
After a thorough examination of comments left by Jordan’s residents, it is possible to say that the main health care issues of this community are connected with health care education, preventative health care, and its accessibility. Preventative health care and education helps minimize disease burden and the risk of chronic diseases’ development to reduce associated costs, while an equal access to health care for all residents will definitely lead to successful outcomes. At the same time, Jordan experiences stable development and the diversification of the population along with highly limited health care services due to a lack of settings. That is why, in order to address the community’s health concerns and improve people’s health condition. I propose to open a medical facility in the town’s center that will include several departments and focus on the delivery of health care to low-income residents. In addition, among departments, there will be a place for health-related organized events and education programs for children and young adults.
Benefits and Implications
The fundamental benefits of a new facility that meets main health care goals are the provision of high-quality health care for all residents, public education, and the prevention of chronic diseases, severe illnesses, and addictions. To be precise, the facility will include departments that will address urgent health care, vaccination, and hospitalization to provide multifaceted health care delivery. In addition, there will be a day care center for all patients who need medical assistance during a day. Finally, the facility will provide multiple educational programs and consulting for children, adolescents, and adults dedicated to healthy nutrition, mental health, and drug and violence prevention. These events will provide essential information and keep children busy improving their thinking and behavior. It is also possible to organize regular health-related events, such as sport and fitness events, especially for young residents.
As previously mentioned, the facility will aim to provide health care for the low-income or uninsured population who cannot afford medical treatment. In addition, it is planned to attract not only professional but culturally competent health care providers who will be able to help people from various backgrounds (Ahn, 2017). Thus, with a new facility that will be opened due to the presence of numerous free properties, people will be provided with multiple health care services, their health issues will be addressed, and children will be occupied after school as well. Therefore, the foundation of this facility will generally improve the community’s life.
Potential Barriers to Change
The main factor that contributes to the resistance to changes created by the community is the socio-economic status of people and the town’s economy (Doubova et al., 2018). A substantial and even growing number of people cannot afford medical services, especially for chronic conditions, and health-related education for their children (Lazar & Davenport, 2018). Moreover, the town’s government cuts funding indicating its challenging economic situation, and the support of the facility’s foundation will be questionable for authorities. Moreover, resistance to changes may be expressed by residents as some people prefer to ignore serious health care issues or be against medical interventions. In general, people accept spreading ideas regardless of their validity and have limited sources of information.
However, potential barriers may be overcome and turned into benefits. In general, people’s commitment and support of changes due to their accessibility and promotion are main drivers that should be considered. If the programs and services of a new facility will be supported by schools, local churches, the food bank, non-profit organizations, local investors, and the state’s government, it will persuade people to accept its construction. All in all, all resistance should be mitigated through communication on the basis of evidence and related data. Moreover, as negative ideas are spread quickly among residents, positive ones related to the benefits of a new facility will be rapidly spread as well.
Stakeholder Communications
As the key stakeholders are residents, local and state’s authorities, and individual investors, their acceptance or resistance may determine the construction of a new medical facility in Jordan as it requires finances and support. Thus, it is essential to explain to them that this facility is necessary for the reduction of health care issues that have already existed in the town. Thus, in order to persuade authorities and investors, it is essential to implement a particular strategy that includes data collection, proposal, and financial planning. In other words, it is necessary to prove the necessity of a new facility by official statistics and reports related to existing health care issues.
