Introduction
Humans are physically less developed than animals, as they do not have the same speed, strength, and ability to climb trees, swim, or do anything else. In contrast, humans are much more intelligent thanks to God and the amazingly complex brain design. Man was created in the image and likeness of God to praise His glory. Moreover, he was created for communion with him and for him. Human beings were brought to life to communicate with and for God for many reasons, including the complexity of their structure, the functionality of the nervous system, and the developed cognitive functions and consciousness.
Language
One of the reasons why we can say that people were created to communicate with God is language. The human brain can form and understand language, culture, and religion (George et al., n.d.). Without language, communication would be limited to gestures or symbols, but language enables people to express their admiration for God and his creation fully. In addition, other cognitive functions, which include language, exceed the needs of mere survival, suggesting that they were created for another purpose: communication and honoring God.
One of the many facts of the complexity of the structure is that the human genome consists of forty-six chromosomes, twenty thousand to twenty-five thousand genes, and more than three billion base pairs of DNA (George et al., n.d.). It took a long time for people to discover the human genome and start researching it, and God was its creator, which again points to the wonder of God’s creation. The evidence that humans were created to communicate with God is evidenced by their advanced cognitive abilities, especially speech, and the complexity of their body structure, particularly the complex structure of their genome.
Consciousness
Our consciousness is another mystery of God’s creation. It includes understanding our inner world and spiritual need to communicate and build a relationship with God. Human values, conscience, and the conscious choice to follow God are also God’s plan, which once again indicates who we were created for and for whom. Consciousness makes us capable of asking deep questions about the purpose of existence, reflecting on our actions and emotions, and realizing that we have freedom of choice. None of the above is found in animals, confirming our creation’s uniqueness (George et al., n.d.).
For sinful people, it is not natural to follow rules other than to satisfy their needs. Therefore, the sense of distinguishing between good and evil and the desire to follow moral norms and ethical principles are also evidence of God’s creation. Thus, our consciousness and understanding of the need for spiritual search and our inner impulse to be moral may indicate that we were created for a relationship with God and reflect His image and likeness.
Conclusion
The complexity of the structure and function of the human nervous system and brain, cognitive functions, and consciousness provide the basis for the statement that people were designed to talk with God and have a special relationship with Him. Language is essential to this communication because it enables people to fully express their feelings and admiration for God and His creation. Furthermore, these cognitive capacities go beyond mere survival needs and indicate a higher purpose: communicating and honoring God. The complexity of the genome also testifies to the unparalleled complexity of God’s creation. Our consciousness and need for spiritual search reflect our uniqueness as creatures and confirm our interaction with God.
