Analysis
Therefore, it is necessary to proceed to the consideration of the case study, which is the basis of this work. The analysis is based on The Quality Tooling Company, which supplies organizations with engineering devices. Despite the relative success in the market, there has been a decline in the industry in which the company operates. It is worth noting that at the same time, competition abroad has increased. These circumstances forced the company to resort to rapid response methods, which implied the introduction of a new alternative work policy.
Further, in response to the changes, The Quality Tooling Company began to modernize its activities by carefully investing in the change initiative. A distinctive positive feature is the fact that the management encourages the loyalty and commitment of the staff. This is because many employees have started their careers in the organization and achieved significant success over many years of working in it (Aburumman et al., 2020; Bratton et al., 2021). This is an advantage of the company since the competitiveness, productivity, and competitiveness of the company directly depends on human resource.
Another way to expand the company’s activities was the introduction of a new medical instrument. It played a positive role for the company, as the healthcare sector is widespread and is an excellent field for business development. Additionally, the case study notes a branched approach to the introduction of a new tool. Henceforth, the organization first conducted two years of research before launching a new product on the market. However, despite the successful conduct of the company’s operations, it faced serious problems during the coronavirus pandemic. Because of his outbreak, the organization has significantly reduced working staff, which, as already mentioned, is a severe problem.
In order to optimize the company’s work and maintain a competitive position in the market, managers have taken measures to increase productivity to save costs. At the same time, the distribution of new medical devices and a wide range of the company (Bratton et al., 2021) was still going on. However, this only led to a deterioration of the situation, as the Quality Tooling Company faced the problem of product quality inconsistencies at various points in the supply chain. This had a serious impact on the image of the business and reduced the operational efficiency of the company. All these aspects, thereby, contributed to the fact of decrease in the profit of the organization.
Therefore, having determined the need for changes, the company decided to implement a new strategy in its operations. Subsequently, it was decided to use a radical quality improvement strategy. The rationale for using this approach is to ensure its survival in the future. The proposed strategy, which can positively impact the company’s functioning, is general quality management. This strategy is expected to help the company revive and regain a leading position in the engineering market.
Total Quality Management
As an alternative way to promote business and improve the functioning of the company, the introduction of total quality management, quality assurance, and quality control practice was proposed. The study defines this approach as “aimed at improving the quality of the processes and products by focusing on meeting customer expectations to enhance customer satisfaction and organizational performance” (Eniola et al., 2019, p. e02293). Thus, the implementation of this approach can provide a significant jump for the company, which will help compensate for the lost resources and market position.
However, when introducing any innovation, some difficulties may arise. To limit these negative consequences, it is necessary to make correct and gradual changes to the organization’s work process (Aquilani et al., 2017). This is because quality plays one of the decisive roles in the success of any initiative (Mukhopadhyay, 2020). This is especially true in cases of changes in functions related to the quality of work and the product being created.
The rationale for using total quality management is the problems that the company had with the products they produced during the crisis after the onset of covid-19. The proposed strategy can improve the product’s quality, significantly affect the streaming supply chain management, and improve the customer experience (Barone, 2021). This will allow the company to gain a solid customer base since the quality of a particular tool produced by the company can affect the health of people or the functioning of engineering manufacturers.
For more practical and satisfactory use and inclusion of total quality management, several rules must be followed. Firstly, spreading awareness about changes in the company and providing employees with this understanding is of particular value. This step is necessary to limit the possibility of reducing brand loyalty and avoiding resistance on the part of employees. However, an additional stage is the full inclusion of employees in the process and the implementation of measures to unite the team and the formation of individuals.
In turn, the company needs to devote more time to the decisions made in the organization and take into account the wishes of the public. The second is possible when conducting various kinds of questions and activities that can help form an understanding of the value of employees for the organization. In addition, exciting activity is the use of fact-based decision-making and communications. This is due to the fact that the business, case following the mentioned factors, can ensure the improvement of its activities.
Moreover, the rational use of resources and the adoption of balanced decisions will help to rehabilitate the company in several aspects at once. Firstly, this is due to a lack of staff. Thus, it is necessary to conduct various pieces of training that could provide the organization with significant growth. Quality control will help to create a favorable atmosphere and corporate culture within the company (Elsbach and Stigliani, 2018). Sources underline that “organizational culture can significantly influence the performance and effectiveness of a company; the morale and productivity of its employees; and its ability to attract, motivate and retain talented people” (Warrick, 2017, p. 395). This aspect will positively impact the quality of products, as it will positively impact work and motivation and the exchange of experience between employees.
It is worth noting that a Quality Tooling Company can use various steps to implement a quality culture and ensure continuous improvement. Hence, such a tool can be used for a monitoring and receiving feedback both during the process of creating products and at the stage of sending and receiving it by customers. This will help to gain an understanding of which aspects can be changed to ensure the most positive experience.
