Walt Disney Company
Walt Disney Company posted a net loss of $8.14 for the week after opening the week at $116.39 per share and closing at $108.25 per share. It peaked on Monday at 117.49, dropped to 112.74 on Wednesday, and climbed back to 114.41 on Thursday. The Monday low was 115.27, and on Friday, it fell to 106.961 According to Deadline.com, this stock was chosen because “The strategy is helping the company stock price and financial results at a time when the other company properties are struggling, the report adds.” 2 The amount of money spent by visitors to the park is rising. The below-average pre-pandemic totals are the reason for doing this. The stock should have gone up, but it went down. It might be because, despite price increases, they discourage visitors or drive away more people than previously. Walt Disney Stock’s price fell by $8.14 overall.
Apple
Apple had a net loss of 12.73 after starting the week at 163.43 per share and ending at 150.70. It peaked on Monday at $164.26 and steadily declined to $151.35. On Monday, the price reached a low of $159.30; on Friday, it dropped to $148.37.3 I selected this stock because I anticipated it would increase in value due to Apple’s release of the new iPhone 14, 14 Plus, and 14 Pro. On September 8, Apple made its significant debut. People were aware that “Apple said the entry-level iPhone 14 will start at $799, the same price it first paid for last year’s iPhone 13,”4 despite “surging inflation throughout the world and supply chain issues that have made it more difficult to source parts.” Because they would not have to worry about breaking the bank, consumers would be interested in the new phone, increasing interest in the stock. Apple is pricing decreased by $12.73 overall.
Etsy
Etsy posted a net loss of $6.05. Shares of Etsy started the week at $114.08 and ended at $108.03. It reached a high of 114.80 on Monday, 108.43 on Tuesday, and 111.15 on Wednesday before falling. The Monday low was 110.84, dropping steadily until Friday at 106.815. I selected this stock because “Shares of Etsy have decreased by about 50% so far this year. As a result, many investors are hooked on purchasing Etsy at a significant discount.”6
However, it has decreased since the pandemic, but Etsy is still competitive. When Amazon is the “everything” store, it still exists. Because of Etsy raising the seller fee, which is still less than rivals, it competes with Amazon and eBay. Etsy’s stock decreased by $6.05.
Tesla
Tesla’s stock price fell from 304.42 to 303.35 over the week, for a net loss of $1.07. It peaked on Monday at 305.49, dropped to 29.40 on Tuesday, and then fluctuated before reaching a high of 303.71. The Monday low was 300.40, wavered, and ended at 295.67, much like the high. This is the second stock split by Tesla in as many years and follows similar steps by high-growth businesses like Amazon.com (AMZN.O) and Google-parent Alphabet (GOOGL.O) to address the rising need to diversify the investor base, which is why I chose this stock. As a result of the split, investors received two additional shares for each share they already owned as of August 17, and the stock opened at $302 and $296.07. The previous Wednesday before the vacation, it had closed at $891.29.8 Overall, Tesla lost $1.07 in value.
American Eagle
American Eagle had a net loss of $0.17 after opening the week at 11.12 per share and closing at 10.95 on Friday. It peaked on Monday at 11.375, declined, and finished the week on Friday with a high of 11.195. It began the week at a low of 10.78 and moved very little before completing the week at 10.469 on Friday.
Although American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (NYSE: AEO) reported earnings that missed analyst forecasts, the firm still has tailwinds that make it an appealing mid-cap retailer for a swing trade over the next 18 months.10 So that’s why I chose this stock as well as the fact that I work for them. Due to the change in seasonal wear, American Eagle had to close seven stores in the most recent quarter and reduce many items. The stock of American Eagle decreased overall by $0.17.
