Social Audio refers to social media products that utilize audio as their principal mode of communication. Social audio can include voice messaging, podcasts, editing tools, live conversation rooms, and audio creation, among others (Simo 1). Clubhouse, Twitter spaces, Spotify Greenroom, and Facebook Live Audio Rooms are the most popular audio-based social media platforms today. Facebook has introduced Social Audio products to engage us in new ways, including soundbites, podcasts, and Facebook Live Audio Rooms, which are a great competitor to Clubhouse.
I believe that Facebook will succeed in its Social audio products launch, as it aims to make audio presence easy, immersive, and natural. These products will help us share awesome audio content, engage in meaningful conversations and connect to things we care about, which will make Facebook more popular. Soundbites will enable us to generate creative clips that capture moments of inspiration and jokes, among other things (Simo 1). On the other hand, podcasts will ensure more airtime for worthy conversations and stories and allow more connection between podcast creators and listeners.
Facebook live audio rooms will allow us to discover, join and listen in on live conversations with experts, public figures, and other topics that interest us. They will be used in groups whereby particular Facebook groups and verified users will be able to create live audio rooms with unlimited listeners and a maximum of fifty speakers (Simo 1). I am sure that introducing these social audio products on Facebook will be a huge success as it increases audience engagement by enabling a direct line of communication between hosts and listeners (Montti 1). Social audio will also allow us to fully experience social presence, guaranteeing its success and popularity.
