Women Leadership Within the Church

The research project looks into details the place of women in the church which is women leadership in the church. Women for a long time have been denied the opportunity to lead in the church because for that long time they have been seen as inferior to men.

The goals and objectives of this project will be centered on the role of women in the church. The project aims at explaining women leadership in the church and the progress made by the women leadership so far.

The background of the problem is also the significance of the study: women have always participated in church activities and headed various groups in the church; the leadership of women was not recognized by any title because their role was not considered important. There has always been question whether women can be ordained elders and whether they can hold senior offices in the church. Presently women serve as spiritual leaders and lead congregations not just because they are pushing for gender equality but because the congregations that they lead have belief in them that they have the spiritual qualities that help them through the process of leadership.

Some members of the church feel that women should hold the leadership positions while others feel that they should not. In the research we try to analyze the position of the bible on this subject. In the bible when Peter and Paul wrote about commands regarding a holy kiss, they were greatly influenced by their culture. Talking about the salves’ obedience to their masters (Eph. 6:1) he was committing himself to culture once more. This implies that culture in a way will influence the position and roles of women in the church.

The project design will include the research plan. The researcher will go to various churches to collect information on the leadership of women and see whether women have been given the same opportunity as men or neglected when it comes to heading church activities. Interviews, observation and questionnaires will be used by the researcher as methods for gathering information. Church members including the leaders will be subjected to interviews by the researcher and this will be done in groups since the research is carried out by an individual. Questionnaires will be given to a sample of church goers and the leaders in the church although the contents of the questionnaires for the leaders and the church members will be different.

The research will take quite an expansive time since the research is carried out by an individual. The researcher will collect information during church days so as to have a maximum number of respondents. After collecting the data for a period of about two weeks, the researcher will put the gathered information together and review it in one or two days. The researcher then reviews the compilation and writes a final paper.

The complete paper will be in form of a publishable manuscript and it will be found in the library for those who would want to know more on the topic. The researcher will conclude the topic of discussion as he/she approaches the end of the paper and make recommendations. Since the topic is wide the researcher would suggest other areas of study by researchers who want to study the related topics.
