Abrahamic Religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam

The videos ‘Mysteries of the Church: Judaism Christianity and Islam’ and ‘Islam Christianity Judaism, ONE GOD’ provide a comprehensive overview of the origins and similarities of the three Abrahamic religions. These religions originated in the Middle East but adhered to different tenets and customs. The films explain that the belief in one God, the teachings of the prophets, and the concept of divine revelation all had a role in the development of the three Abrahamic religions. The Prophet Abraham is the progenitor of the oldest of the three religions, Judaism. The Torah has Moses’s teachings and was crucial in forming Jewish thought and behavior.

Christianity is a religion derived from Judaism that centers on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ, whom believers revere as the divine Son. The Bible, especially the New Testament, is revered by Christians because it contains accounts of Jesus’ life and teachings. The teachings of the Old Testament prophets, such as Moses, are also included in Christian theology. The Prophet Muhammad established Islam in the seventh century CE, making it the most recent of the three faiths.

The Quran is the central religious text for Muslims because it contains revelations Muhammad received from God. The prophets Abraham, Moses, and Jesus’ teachings are all included in Islam. Judaism has had the most significant impact on Christianity and Islam among the three Abrahamic faiths. Christianity grew out of Judaism and retained many of its tenets, such as the significance of obeying God’s laws and believing in a single God. The Jewish prophets, such as Moses and Isaiah, are likewise essential to Christians.

There are many similarities between Judaism and Islam, including the significance of following God’s commands and the belief in a single God. Among other Jewish prophets, Abraham, Moses, and David are likewise revered in Islam. Muslims are united in their conviction in the value of worship and almsgiving. There are certain commonalities between the three religions, but there are also important distinctions. A key distinction is a Christian conviction that Jesus is God. Christians believe Jesus is the Son of God, but Jews and Muslims disagree. Each religion also has its own set of rituals and customs that are distinct from those of others.

The videos ‘Mysteries of the Church: Judaism Christianity and Islam’ and ‘Islam Christianity Judaism, ONE GOD’ comprehensively review the commonalities and differences among the three Abrahamic faiths. Although there are numerous similarities between the three faiths, there are also important distinctions. Nonetheless, it cannot be denied that these religions have had and continue to significantly influence human civilization and the lives of countless individuals around the globe.
