An Ideal State Creation

From a variety of governing styles, democracy with its power of citizens seems to be the most appropriate decision in the context of war and the post-war period. Since the previous dictator was overthrown and a new President was elected, it is critical to ensure that the given state would have the necessary branches to regulate domestic and foreign issues as well as combat terrorism and aggression. The new governing style would focus on the creation of a peaceful, unprejudiced, and equitable state. This paper will focus on both domestic and foreign concerns, including such issues as the governing style, programs to create a public good and address terrorism and the economic structure.

Domestic Concerns

In the proposed state, democracy will recognize people as a source of power, and the election of the main bodies of power, the equality of citizens, and their voting rights will be emphasized. The subordination of the minority to the majority when making decisions will be regarded as another principle (Geer, Herrera, Schiller, & Segal, 2018). An indispensable condition of democracy will be the constitutional formulation of the government system along with the existence of an adopted Constitution, which will be perceived as a symbol of democracy’s direct implementation.

In this country, power will be exercised through special bodies belonging to various branches. Namely, the separation of powers into legislative (introduction of laws), executive (implementation of public policy), and judicial (interpretation of laws) will be one of the basic principles of a democratic state (Geer et al., 2018). This division will allow preventing abuse and the emergence of authoritarian power, and the centralization of power in one body.

A social policy strengthening program will be initiated to conduct research, reveal the needs of citizens, and respond accordingly. Considering that war devastated the country, social assistance from the government will be an important factor in ensuring public goods. The second program called Give Free-to-Air (FTA) Television to All, will be called to provide people with an accessible and high-quality tool to be aware of the latest decisions of the President. The fact that the two described programs are non-rivalrous and non-excludable shows that they belong to the public good.

The mixed economic structure as the combination of command and market economies will be used. For the given state, it is important to control some key areas such as healthcare, education, military forces, and transportation. Appropriate distribution of services and goods, rewarding the most successful producers, and rational capital allocation are the main advantages of the mixed economic structure (Geer et al., 2018).

The control of the official bodies over the mentioned spheres will allow keeping them transparent and financially beneficial, while other markets will develop freely. The socialization of citizens will be achieved via the creation of trust and confidence in the state. The concept of the collaborative government that interacts with the community and the private sector will be used as it promotes belongingness, national unity, and a positive attitude towards the government.

Foreign Concerns

For economics, it is possible to join the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This organization promotes policies that are aimed at improving the well-being of people worldwide by providing a forum and international standards (Clifton & Díaz-Fuentes, 2014). OECD works with countries, businesses, and labor while it is committed to democratic institutions. By joining this organization, the given state will reestablish public finances and restore the trust of its citizens in markets. The steps to join will include the specification of economic development goals, request to OECD membership, and accession discussion.

The second organization that is critical to collaborate with is the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as one of the bodies of the United Nations. UNSC strives to ensure international security, conducts peacekeeping operations, imposes sanctions, and regulates military forces. The rationale for joining UNSC is the opportunity to adopt the most elaborate security measures and policies and receive assistance in evaluating threats and risks. The organization considers inquiries from governments and approves them (collaboration steps).

A national defense program will be adopted to ensure safety and peace in the state, which will be performed through strengthening the rule of law and human rights to increase the trust of people (Magstadt, 2017). The second way to address terrorism from neighboring countries is to seek help from UNSC (Combs, 2018). As a result, these initiatives are likely to decrease aggression and violence inside the state, and people will understand that it is better to support democratic principles and exercise their rights in building a successful country. More to the point, the efforts of UNSC are likely to eliminate the external threats in the process of peacemaking operations.

Conclusion

To conclude, the proposed state will adopt democracy and its principles of citizens’ rights and constitutional laws. The three branches will regulate power distribution, and social policy and FTA programs will provide public goods. The mixed economic structure will be applied to combine governmental control and the free market. As for foreign affairs, OECD and UNSC are two target organizations to join since they will help in addressing terrorism and potential domestic risks regarding security.
