Aspects of Lymph Vessels

Lymph vessels carry lymph, tissue fluid, which serves as drainage for body tissues and transports various substances and cells of the immune system.

Lymph nodes filter lymph in a specific area of ​​the body and concentrate immune cells to fight infections.

Spleen destroys damaged blood cells and those that have already worked out their resources, as well as harmful microorganisms. During early fetal development, the spleen is responsible for hematopoiesis. It plays a vital role in how the child’s immune system forms and functions in early childhood.

The thymus: especially in childhood, is most involved in the formation of the body’s immune system. Also, being in the thymus gland, T-lymphocytes learn to distinguish their cells of the immune system from foreign cells. This means that they mature in the thymus to the point where they become fully functional cells of the immune system.

The bone marrow works like a “factory” that produces all types of cells found in the bone marrow and peripheral blood. This factory depends on the function of pluripotent stem cells (Better Health Channel, n.d.).

Tonsillitis – Inflammation of the tonsils of an infectious and inflammatory nature. In this case, mainly the lymphoid tissue of the palatine tonsils is affected. Several types of infectious agents cause the disease. One of the symptoms is inflammation, an increase in the size of tonsils.

Macrophages and lymphocytes are the main cells of the immune system. Generally and briefly, they are usually called immunocytes. The first stages of the development of immunocytes occur in the bone marrow (Randolf et al., 2017).

In the thymus, cells are selected that can react with their antigens. All lymphocytes that have not passed the specificity control die (Van der Putte, 2012).

Lymphatic drainage is combined with the neutralization of those harmful substances that are present to a greater or lesser extent in the interstitium surrounding the cell. The latter is realized by biophysical, biochemical, and immune processing of tissue fluid and lymph formed from it (Van der Putte, 2012).
