Software
The software needed for the customized PC is Operating System, Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Email, eClinicalWorks EHR with Practice Management and Antivirus/Antimalware. This report analyses the software picked. The OS chosen is Windows 10 Pro. It is an upgrade to all the cool features of Windows 10 (Fritsche, 2017). It allows for remote desktop; hence collaboration is evident. It will even make the clinic’s work easier when they look into telehealth. It offers security in multifactor authentication, prevents startup attacks and data leaks which makes HIPAA compliance easier. The shift is also easier in case any PC that was there prior was using Windows 10 Home.
For Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Presentation, and Email, package software is more beneficial. Microsoft 365 Business provides Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook as a part of the package. There is a provision of a custom domain email address and a 50GB mailbox. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook can all be accessed on the web, making it easy to still work while remote. There is also the provision of file sharing that is secured; hence employees can stick to one channel when sharing secure documents (Chen et al., 2017). Medical records have very crucial personal data that would bring problems if made public.
To protect the computer from Malware Kaspersky Small Office Security plan deemed ideal. It is an excellent addition to the security provided by the Operating System. It has built-in vulnerability scanning to prevent intrusion. This helps prevent attacks before they happen. Employees can also work from mobile devices without feeling insecure if need be. It helps protect the clinic systems even when there is an attack that stems from negligence from an employee. For example, if an employee clicks a malicious link, there will be a backup hence the malware encrypting the files does not mean a total loss of clinic files. Kaspersky also provides a web portal that allows management of licenses, contact support, and management of protected devices. Kareo Billing was chosen to provide eClinicalWorks EHR with Practice Management. They have integrated e-claims processing and offer a secure system for managing health records. The system has a short learning curve, and it makes working your practice seamless.
Hardware
The different hardware components were chosen with regard to quality and price. The case as the covering of the inner components is essential for the safety of the components inside it. Corsair CC-9011075-WW Carbide Series 100R Mid Tower Case seemed ideal as it only weighs 10 pounds, and it provides direct airflow to the GPU. The design with a mesh-free front panel makes it suitable for a customizable PC (Brockmöller et al., 2020). It also allows for the mounting of five fans, and drive installation does not require any tools. The fan used in a computer is critical as overheating can lead to computer damage. The revolutions reach 800-1700 RPM with noise expected around 30dBA maximum. As we all know, fan noise can be very irritating when trying to work.
The external hard drive used is the Toshiba (HDTB410XK3AA) Canvio Basics 1TB Portable which uses USB 3.0 and allows for plug and play. It also has a formatted New Technology File System for Windows 10. The Internal HDD Seagate Barracuda 3.5” was chosen as the most suitable hard drive. It has a capacity of 500GB with SATA3 and 7200RPM 16MB. These revolutions are ideal for the kind of work done at the clinic. For the RAM, we shall use the Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 DRAM, which is a kit with a total capacity of 16GB with 3200MHz. It provides broad compatibility with DDR4 motherboards and ensures the most excellent performance. There is also error handling like the provision of headroom for overclocking. The design is such a heat spreader made of aluminum that ensures high speeds by minimizing overheating. The installation and setup are also straightforward.
To ensure repetitive strain injury is not a concern, an ergonomic keyboard is needed (Hermawan et al., 2018). The Logitech MK550 Wireless Wave Keyboard provides a comfortable and classy design that aids the user to feel comfortable even when working for long hours. The mouse with it is an ambidextrous laser mouse with long battery life and is not bulky.
As the primary mode of human-computer interaction, the screen is a crucial part of the computer system. The HP Pavilion 22cwa 21.5-Inch LED Monitor provided Full HD quality with both HDMI and VGA connectivity. The excellent contrast ratio it has helps protect the user’s eyes. It also helps the user feel responsible as it meets the energy standards helping reduce carbon footprint.
The motherboard used is the MSI Intel B365 LGA 1151, which has a 64Gb capacity and four pins for power connection. It supports DDR4 memory and also a frequency of up to 2666 MHz. To allow faster connectivity, the Network Interface card must be of quality and excellent speed support. The NIC used is a 1Gbps Dual Port PCIe Network Card, with a Gigabit Ethernet Converged Adapter with Intel 82576 Chip plus 2 RJ45 Ports. It is equipped with the original Intel 82576 controller chip, which supports Intelligent Offloads and makes the servers more stable.
A power supply is essential as having the computer system use a lot of power is costly. The power supply chosen uses 750 watts; it is tuned for low noise and is fully modularized. The modularity allows the user to connect only the cables that they need instead of connecting everything. Processors are also vital to the computer system. Having a processor equipped to handle a lot of tasks is an advantage. The AMD Ryzen 5 has speeds of 1600GHZ and only uses 65 Watts. It has a wraith stealth cooler with a base block of 3.2GHz. It is ideal for multitasking and even supports virtualization seamlessly.
The sound card picked has provision for an audio center with complete audio control. It provides high sound quality with punchy bass. The frequencies provided are not too high for the clinic’s environment nor too low for the user to hear, as the highest resolution provided is 116 dB. The Amazon Basics Computer Speakers give an excellent frequency range of 68 Hz – 20 kHz, which works well with the sound card. The graphics card is chosen, VisionTek Radeon 5450 2GB DDR3, which provides high-quality images with dual monitor support. The only thing needed to make it work at its best is quality updated drivers. It also has 7.1 channels of surround sound over HDMI. The user experience in terms of watching a video and other graphical media is impressive.
The last purchase would be the Canon TS202 Inkjet Photo Printer. It is reasonably fast, of a nice small size, and does not require time before use. Inkjet printers provide a higher quality of prints and are quieter than dot-matrix printers (Werner, 2017). The printer also provides a way to refill the papers quickly.
