Competing With the iPhone

The iPhone has taken the world of mobile phones by storm thanks to its sleek design, touch screen, and motion-detecting features, and other camera and video options. But every product, brand, or item has some weakness that can be exploited upon. The iPhone is not similar and even though it has its reputation in the style and image department, it lacks in the feature efficiency department.

iPhone Weaknesses

Since the introduction of the iPhone in 2007, it has been noted to have numerous flaws in its operations. By analyzing its weaknesses a better and more user-friendly mobile could be designed. The most notable of all the problems mentioned by countless users is the low battery life (The Various iPhone Problems Reported ). Even though the phone is loaded with countless features, if the battery dies out, then all the features are meaningless.

Another problem that has been identified by users of the iPhone is that it has problems with its heating system. The phone heats up extremely fast when the user talks for a slightly long period on the phone (Martin). This is a major problem for all those who talk for long hours due to business or personal purposes and since the primary purpose of a phone is to aid in communication, the features are just a burden if they result in this price that the user has to pay.

Similarly, the iPhone has a multitude of operating system problems, updating problems, errors that pop up (Mahalo.com). All these problems make it impractical for people who are even slightly less computer savvy and don’t know much about software resolutions and how to fix their own operating system problems.

Competing Strategy Against iPhone

To make a significant stand against the iPhone, a new phone which is more compatible with all operating systems should be considered. This feature would latch all those people who are apprehensive of purchasing an iPhone due to the fact that it involves purchasing software and other cool attachments only from iTunes and other licensed Apple products.

Another thing which should obviously be worked upon is higher battery life as if the battery life can sustain even half the amount more of what is used by iPhone, it would be a strong point with which to influence the users. Offering them more time to play around and use the features to their heart’s content.

Cutting down on the price of the phone, and creating a more economically friendly mobile with similar features would help in competing with iPhone. However, no compromise may be given on the looks of the phone as if it isn’t much better looking than the iPhone, it must not look any cheaper. To help promote a touch screen mobile, the overall appearance holds more weight than a million features.

Along with the price, and look, if we wish to compete with the iPhone, a highly intense marketing strategy should be adopted to put the new product in the populace’s mind and establish the fact that the new phone holds more than what the iPhone holds as the Apple brand is already established in terms of style. That hurdle would have to be overcome before any new phone can compete with the iPhone.
