Developmental Concepts in Human Life Span

Human beings undergo various developmental stages in their life span. In each stage of growth, various developmental concepts show how and why human beings change throughout their life. The first stage of development begins at the moment of conception. During this period, the sperm merges with the egg, after which the fetus’s development starts. This period is divided into three development stages: the germinal stage, the embryonic stage, and the fetal stage. At the germinal stage, the personality of the child starts to form. For example, the father and mother’s DNA is passed on to the child, thus creating the child’s character. In the germinal stage, the cognitive concept manifests as the brain starts to form and develop significantly. This concept is helpful in the general understanding of the importance of brain development during this stage. At the fetal stage, the fetus is fully grown, and it is ready for birth. They are subjected to the interrelation of mind and society. For instance, the environment in which they will live will determine their general behavior. This development concept can be used in my future career, making an environment conducive to a child’s behavioral development.

In the first two years of the developmental stage, a child is exposed to the social world. This maturation stage is characterized by emotional development. For instance, an experience of pain is usually manifested through crying. They can also show happiness through smiling and laughing. This development concept can be used in my future career to examine a child’s health condition physically. The other idea that is manifested in this stage is the development of social bonds. For example, a child can show rapid coordination and a smooth exchange of responses with their caregivers. I would use this concept in my personal life to learn secure child attachment. The other development concept in this stage is the overall growth of the infant. For example, the body size grows, and weight increases to around 28 pounds. They also start to connect with their surroundings. This concept plays a significant role in my future career in knowing the average height and height of children at two.

During the early childhood stage, the body starts to change. For example, weight and height increase significantly, and also the relationships between these measurements changes. Nutrition is viewed considered the central factor behind these body changes. Understanding this concept is significant for my general understanding of how good food is vital for their physical growth. Another development concept witnessed in this stage is brain development. Here, the brain weighs 75 percent of what it will in adulthood, and the child starts experiencing the benefits of the body change. For example, sleep becomes more regular due to the maturation of the prefrontal cortex. This development concept forms a significant part of my future career in understanding the connection between brain development and a child’s sleep patterns. The concept of emotional regulation also develops during the early childhood stage. For example, children develop the ability to control when and how emotions are expressed. I will use this concept in my career to understand the various emotional regulation influences.

In the middle childhood stage, children are safeguarded by genetic and environmental factors. For example, they grow healthy habits that are ensured by adult instructions concerning healthcare and regular medical care. Due to this, they experience lower death rates and fatal illnesses. This concept will be good for my general understanding of specialized programs that promote healthy living among children. Another developmental idea evident in this stage is brain coordination and capacity. At this stage, the brain is fully developed, and individuals can independently solve most of their issues. For example, an individual can handle complex subjects such as mathematics. This concept is significant in advancing my future career in linking brain development and solving complex life issues. At this stage, the cognitive-developmental concept is also evident. In this regard, children can acquire knowledge through interactions with their peers. For example, they can learn how to use different language words from their peers. This concept can be used in my future career by examining how poverty issues may affect children’s cognitive capacity.
