Health Insurance Remains Unaffordable for Many Americans

Introduction

Today, the question of health insurance remains extremely important to the citizens of the USA. The fact is that its healthcare sector is one of the most expensive in the world. The quality of the suggested services is high; however, the problem remains. Insurance is one of the main ways to guarantee that the needed services will be provided in time. However, many residents are not able to afford them and remain deprived of any opportunity to acquire the needed medication or care. Despite numerous attempts to alter the situation by introducing new strategies like Obamacare, or Trumps approach, the situation with health insurance remains complex. For this reason, there is a great need for the investigation of the given aspect.

Health Insurance in the State

As for Florida, in general, the current situation in the state is similar to those in many other ones. There are many health security programs available for residents (State Health Department, n.d.). Moreover, state residents who are not able to obtain employer-sponsored coverage can look for an appropriate health plan in the private marketplace (State Health Department, n.d.). At the same time, there are also several public health plans like Medicaid or CHIP. For this reason, it is possible to conclude that there are several health insurance programs available for people living in Florida at the moment.

General Health statistics

Nevertheless, if to look at general health statistics peculiar to Florida, several facts should be admitted. First of all, the situation is not the worst across the USA (32nd healthiest state in the country) (State Health Department, n.d.). Thus, several health issues should be given great attention. STDs (sexually transmitted disease) remain a great problem especially for the poor areas and the speed of their spread increases (“Survey data,” n.d.). Additionally, several HIV prevention programs also try to slow down the speed of this disease evolution (“Survey data,” n.d.). Finally, the population also suffer from different forms of cancer. In general, the situation is not critical; however, the attempts to improve care accessibility should be introduced.

Florida and Health Care Reform

Continuing the investigation of the state and its environment, one should also admit Floridas participation in the health care reform. The fact is that the wide implementation of the altered approach to healthcare insurance triggered numerous debates in the area. On the one hand, Obamacare’s healthcare plans could be used by people with diverse needs and different social statuses. On the other hand, the problem remains topical as many people are not able to afford these programs (State Health Department, n.d.). Furthermore, the Affordable Care Act was also accepted in Florida to provide people with low incomes with an opportunity to use medical services. However, the problem remains unsolved, and the character of these innovations is doubted.

Reforms and Practice

Considering all these programs, it is possible to assume that the practice of a healthcare specialist will not change greatly in the state. He/she will have to work with several patients who have problems with health insurance or who are deprived of an opportunity to afford any of the above-mentioned programs. In this regard, there will be numerous ethical challenges that should be faced and solved by a specialist working in the given sphere.

Conclusion

Altogether, despite numerous attempts to improve the situation, Florida still has serious problems with the health coverage as a number of its respondents are not able to afford health insurance or use services needed for them to recover.
