Introduction
The stable work of the healthcare sector is one of the central factors impacting the health of the nation. For this reason, it is essential to ensure that existing health facilities have all the necessary equipment and supplies to provide care and treat the most complex cases. At the same time, some regions might experience a lack of resources and remain limited in their ability to meet clients’ needs.
For this reason, aligning the adequate supply of necessary resources for every unit is essential. Thus, Haiti is one of the regions that might require additional resources and technology to ensure the sphere works effectively. Furthermore, an effective clinical documentation and quality maintenance process should be created to avoid ineffective practices.
Healthcare Technology, Resources, and Supplies in Haiti
Haiti is a state that continues to evolve and focuses on improving various aspects of its functioning. The state’s healthcare system is represented by non-governmental organizations, private units, and public hospitals (Frechette et al., 2023). Thus, the disastrous earthquake caused much harm to the sector and introduced the critical need for additional measures to align its practical work (Frechette et al., 2023).
Thus, at the moment, the state has access to the basic medical equipment necessary for treating and supporting patients’ lives (Frechette et al., 2023). Moreover, after the earthquake in 2010, it was sponsored and supported by multiple nations to recover (Frechette et al., 2023). For this reason, the state managed to accumulate the necessary equipment to ensure that units could continue working with patients.
At the same time, the state has some problems affecting its healthcare sector. First, the clinical staff should be supplied with additional intensive care units and operating rooms to ensure the healthcare service sector works more effectively (Frechette et al., 2023). Second, the surgical centers are few, and there is a limited number of qualified surgeons (Frechette et al., 2023). They cannot be trained because of the lack of equipment and training centers.
Furthermore, the newest technologies, including healthcare informatics, electronic medical records, e-health, robots, and new imaging methods, are either absent or rare (Frechette et al., 2023). It will help to attain better results and avoid critical outcomes in the future. In such a way, the country has specific problems that should be addressed.
Process for Clinical Documentation
However, the effective use of technology implies a specific process for clinical documentation. Previous practice shows that much equipment was abandoned, stored inappropriately, or unused (Compton et al., 2018). For this reason, new approaches to managing technology and supplies should be created. First, the clinical documentation improvement (CDI) process should be initiated (“What is clinical documentation?” 2023).
It implies reviewing the existing record to structure data and ensure all existing equipment is considered (“What is clinical documentation?,” 2023). It also means that electronic databases should be created to guarantee the better management of all available equipment, technologies, and supplies. The reviews should be regular as they would minimize the risk of poor equipment management and avoid cases when the necessary resources are not employed because of the lack of information.
Measures for Ensuring Quality in Service Delivery
The effective delivery of clinical services is another problem impacting the healthcare sector. For instance, regular quality assessment is key to introducing successful interventions that might help address existing problems (Dempsey et al., 2022). The measures should be accepted regarding the existing issues and aim at their elimination. For instance, clinical service delivery should be enhanced by regularly integrating innovative approaches, enhancing coordination between units at different levels (Dempsey et al., 2022).
Management and Utilization of Clinic Resources
Regularly reviewing all available resources will help support the given strategies and ensure that the technology is employed to attain better outcomes. Most strategies should focus on aligning the cooperation between the care providers to ensure no misunderstandings or flaws. Finally, the framework for effective management of all resources should be aligned to create the basis for future improvement. For instance, the total quality management (TQM) approach in the healthcare sector can be employed (Seelbach & Brannan, 2023). It implies reducing cost, improving quality, and enhancing customer service (Seelbach & Brannan, 2023).
Achievement of these goals requires assessing the units’ work to determine problems and offer ways to resolve them. It also means reconsidering leadership, administration, and employee support schemes (Seelbach & Brannan, 2023). TQM will help consider the existing clinic resources and manage them appropriately to ensure the current consumer needs are considered.
Conclusion
Altogether, Haiti has specific medical equipment and supplies needs. It lacks surgical and emergency care units and technologies that help align electronic medical records systems, so additional supplies of this equipment are needed. Improved outcomes can also be attained by using TQM approaches and implementing the newest methods of working with clients.
The constant assessment of current needs will help establish the basis for future improvement and avoid new issues. By applying the recommended approaches and fulfilling the current need for equipment, Haiti’s healthcare sector can work better. Regular assessment and evaluation are keys to resolving sector problems and treating patients.
