Health Clubs and Fitness Centers Popularity

Introduction

These days more and more people become members of health clubs and fitness centers. People who have businesses in the spheres of human health and beauty prosper in the 21st century where men and women are preoccupied with these issues. The popularity of health clubs and fitness centers increases daily and, especially, in spring and summer when people need their beauty and health most of all.

These days, there is hardly a person who has never heard about eating disorder problems and famous brands of training simulators used for body perfection. The main causes of the unbelievable popularity of health clubs and fitness centers are environmental degradation which causes health problems, as well as technological development and absurd standards of beauty which cause both health problems and people’s dissatisfaction with their looks.

Discussion

Environmental degradation

Firstly, health clubs have become more popular due to environmental degradation. Environmental pollution leads to numerous instances of asthma, bronchitis, heart threats, skin abnormalities, and other diseases. Air and water are the most exposed to environmental pollution, and, unfortunately, they are the most necessary for the normal functioning of the human organism. People, no matter how much they want, cannot prevent themselves from breathing in the contaminated air. Partially, they may avoid it by using purifiers at home, but they cannot escape it, because they have to go outside. Exposure to diseases makes people turn for help to health clubs, where they can go through preventive measures or cure the diseases they already have; this is why the popularity of health clubs increases.

Absurd beauty standards

Moreover, fitness centers have also become popular, because absurd standards of body proportions make people doubt the beauty of their bodies. Watching television and especially fashion channels makes some people, earlier only women, but now men as well, depressed. It is hard to explain to society that not everybody can look like a star or a model whose day consists only in taking care of his/her body and face. However, people still strive for perfection, at least in order not to stand out from the rest of the population. This makes them buy a membership at fitness centers and, simultaneously, increases the popularity of the latter.

Technological development

Finally, the number of both health clubs and fitness centers increases because of technological development. Society became so developed technologically that people can spend the whole day on the couch switching TV channels, listening to the stereo, eating, drinking, etc. without even having to stand up. Such a way of life leads to problems with weight and, correspondingly, health problems. This makes people turn to the health clubs where they hear that their problem is in the excess weight, rather than in damaged health. Then they turn to the fitness centers where they deal with both the problems at once. Thus, the popularity of health clubs and fitness centers increases since more and more people have problems with weight and health due to their motionless way of life.

Conclusion

In sum, environmental degradation, absurd standards of beauty, and technological development increase the popularity of health clubs and fitness centers. Environmental pollution causes numerous diseases, making people turn for help to the health clubs. Beauty standards used for models make ordinary people buy a membership at fitness centers where instructors make models from them. Lastly, technological development causes obesity and health problems, which increases the popularity of both, health clubs and fitness centers.
