Homosexuality From a Christian Point of View

Homosexuality is the manifestation of sexual desire towards a member of one’s own sex or the erotic activity with a member of the same sex (Strauss 1). Every Bible believing Christian, who has read the scriptures and understood what they say about homosexuality condemns homosexuality and should be oppose to having homosexuals elected in positions of leadership in churches. Homosexuality is perceived to be a result of being demon possessed and bound by some kind of demons.

In the Old Testament, every person knew that homosexuality was an abominable sin, hated and disgusting even to mention. God’s attitude towards homosexuality was that of hate to the point of punishing with death. His punishment was not for the hate of the people, but the sin of homosexuality, he did that because He loved them as His people. The whole of Leviticus 18 warns against unlawful sexual relations which among them is homosexuality. Moses was instructed to make it very clear to the children of Israel about the sexual relations: in Leviticus 18: 22 the Bible records that “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable” (The Bible 83). When such a relationship happened, they were serious consequences which could even lead to death.

Homosexuals are among the wicked people as recorded in 1 Corinthians 6:9-12. They are among those that will not inherit the kingdom of God (The Bible 794). Since the Christian’s endeavor is to inherit the kingdom of God, they get hesitant to be associated with such people with the fear that they will influence them to the act and in turn make them miss out on the Kingdom. Though there is hope in such people changing and inheriting the kingdom, Christians are still very skeptical about associating with them in whichever capacity.

The other reason why Christians should condemn homosexuality is because the sexual act does not lead to bearing of children. Many Christians believe that God commanded Adam in Genesis 1: 28 to multiply, fill the earth and subdue it, he meant that sex should be for procreation (The Bible 1). So any sexual relationship that does not promote procreation is not allowed and it is considered demonic since it is against nature.

Though some Christians have tried to support homosexuality and have forwarded arguments for supporting their view, the Bible is clear about homosexuality and it is clear that God does not accept it. It is important for every Bible believing Christian to note that “any evil condemned in Scripture cannot be honoring to God” (Strauss 1). Though homosexual religious leaders attempt to smooth over the issues with Christian terminology so that excitement dominates their sermon, God may not be in such a sermon (Strauss 1).

A bible believing Christian who has read the scriptures and understands God’s position on homosexuality will be on the forefront in condemning it. Just like 1 John 2: 29 advises us “if you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him” (The Bible 845). Following the scriptures rightfully will make a Christian differentiate between God’s people and them that are lost and still think they are on track. If that is the case therefore, homosexuals should not be accepted in the local churches without having to abandon their homosexual behavior.
